Definitely not your typical museum food! The swedish inspired entrees we sampled were the meatballs, gravlax, mushrooms & summer beans, and the baby beats salad. We found all to be extremely flavorful and elegantly presented. We found the meatballs to be perfectly seasoned on a potato puree and the lingonberry/mustard sauce was superb. We were fortunate to be there on a day they were serving the chilled cucumber soup with herring roe - what a treat!! Wine and beer selections were more extensive than we would have expected. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs. We were there on a very hot day and they worked hard to keep moving the tables around on the outdoor patio so they were in the shade. The staff and chef really know what gluten-free means and work hard to accommodate people with gluten intolerance.

The food is delicious and so beautifully presented! The beet salad was lovely and the other entrees were as well. The peach crisp recommended by our server for dessert was very good, so we didn't even look at the dessert menu, but later another server walked by with two other desserts: almond cake with Pernod-soaked cherries and black licorice ice cream, and strawberry lemon Pavlova, and they looked GREAT.
We'll be back.

This is a must if you are in Minneapolis, especially if you are of Scandinavian descent. We sat on the patio at Fika, the cafe in the new and strikingly modern addition to the original turn-of-the century Turnblad mansion, home to the American Swedish Institute.
The food is lovely -- fresh, colorful, and beautifully presented. And it is delicious. We were very happy to be on the patio on a Sunday afternoon...it was quiet and shaded, and we preferred it over the more bustling interior. We sampled the small-plate entrees of juniper-spiced meatballs and smoked sausage with fennel, as well as the open-faced sandwich of seared salmon with watercress, beet, tarragon, and sweet mustard sauce on house rye -- the best of our choices and very artfully presented -- a treat for the eye as well as the palate. The meatballs were good but needed a bit of salt, (and I hate to admit I'm rather spoiled by the ones at Ikea). Can't wait to go back to Fika for the desserts, breakfast, and pastries!

We had lunch at FIKA and would definitely go back there again. The museum setting was elegant and the service was friendly and attentive. The Swedish influenced cuisine was given a light and contemporary touch and both the taste and presentation were terrific. Not a lot of food, but that's ok.

We opted to not eat lunch here and instead decided to have dessert. And let me tell you, their desserts are out of this world. My daughter enjoyed the blueberry thumbprint cookies while I enjoyed their cherry scone. YUMMY! You can definitely tell that they pay close attention to detail and the products they use are of very high quality. I will DEFINITELY try lunch the next time I visit.
