“Who knew a floor mill was so much fun”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

A great gem that we just happen upon on Tripadvisor. Make sure you take plenty of time to see the movie about the history of Minnesota it is quit funny and also you need to look at the exhibits before the tour the 8 story elevator that shows what happened in floor mills. The history is great and the view when you get up to the top was excellent we even saw the lock work an added bonus since they don't use it much anymore. Glad the museum made it a point to keep the history alive. They also have a test kitchen with samples which make it seem like baking.

“Who knew you could have so much fun with flour?”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Great views of the Mississippi river and the Stone Arch bridge. Great history lesson of the development of the city which grew around the waterfalls at St. Anthony. They have interactive models that you can dam up the river and divert water which was super fun. I could have been there for hours, but they needed to close. My 3 year year old had a lot of fun as well and liked the treat in the test kitchen. Highly recommended.

“Great place for kids!”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I can't believe that it's taken me a dozen years to visit the Mill City Musuem. This is a really great small museum for you and your kids. Offering up the history of flour milling in the US inside the remains of an actual Minneapolis flour mill, this museum has lots of opportunity for hands-on experiences for kids of all ages. Don't miss the Flour Tower experience, the view from the 9th floor deck, and the 19-minute film. All totally worth the price of admission. This museum has both a parking lot and ramp directly across the street, and can easily be done in 2 hours. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, and if you go at the right time of year, you might even catch the Mill City Farmer's Market after your visit!

“Beautiful views”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

An interesting museum with an entertaining and informative elevator ride(flour tower) to the observation area on the 9th floor with breathtaking views of the Mississippi river an ST. Anthony Falls. They also have a small test kitchen where they make cookies, brownies, etc.--a favorite of kids. A worthwhile visit.
