“Just different enough to be interesting”
Reviewed July 30, 2011

I stayed at this hotel for a conference recently. The decor is just different enough to keep you interested in looking around all the time -- and even allows you to overlook some of the signs of use and age that come with any hotel. Interesting glass arrangements on the walls, nice amenities in the rooms. Wi-fi signal strong and accessible. And the staff is super-helpful, even with slightly unusual requests.

The elevators are fast, which is only worth mentioning because there is something odd about the engineering of the building. To get to the rooms, you first take one bank of elevators to the 4th floor, then walk in front of the bar/restaurant to another bank of elevators, which you then take to the remaining floors. Not a big deal, particularly, but when thinking about taking a quick trip up to the room for something, you find yourself weighing the time needed to wait for 4 elevators (not just 2).

Since I was at the hotel for business, I can comment that the meeting rooms were perfect for the convening, and staff was attentive to most every detail I could notice.

Snack foods during the conference were great. Conference meals and my meals at the hotel restaurant were better than average, but not great.

Room doors tended to slam shut, which meant some awakening during the night.

Wow - for such a nice hotel, you'd think you'd get better sound control between rooms. The people in the room next to us were up partying until 4AM and we got very little sleep.

The Graves is a nice upscale hotel ...a bit out of the way from downtown Minneapolis but a hop and skip in a taxi. The area around the hotel needs some TLC and appears a bit transitional. The saving grace is that there is a Starbucks on the ground floor, Hard Rock for a quick bite, and Cosmos restaurant in the hotel which is scrumptious (you have to try the tuna tartar). The rooms are a step up from the usual ho-hum with sweet flat screen TV, extra cumfy bed with nice linens, and tripped out sound system. The best part of the room for me has to be the multi-head shower and Hermes soap. A stay will set you back a few hundred dollars and not for the faint of heart. So flash some cash and get your groove on at Graves 601.

Stayed here for our anniversary on July 9th. The hotel is very posh and very clean. Valet Park! Unless you want to walk down the street with your luggage. It was very easy to pull up, get out and be taken care of. This is exactly how we like to be treated.

We were able to check in right around 3:30 with no problems or lines.

I'm not fond of having to go to the 4th floor, exit off the elevator, go around the corner and get on another elevator. I felt like my privacy was interrupted when we had to walk past the bar, but they did score our business that night as we stopped by for a drink before bed. - I suspect it has something to do with the layout of the building, but they made it work. Very nice decor, high ceilings and background music.

Room was fantastic. Very clean, enjoyed the multiple shower heads and the TV in the bathroom. Great view of downtown, very comfortable sheets and pillows.

We left around 4:45pm or so to get a drink. There was a huge line to check in, and a huge line to valet park. We discovered there was a wedding reception there, so if your stay is on a Friday or Saturday, be aware that checking in between 4pm-5pm or so you might run into a bunch of wedding guests. - Not sure if they have it or not, but they might want to consider putting in a non-wedding guest hotel line so other guests don't have to wait. Generally wedding guests will mingle with one another and won't have a problem waiting.

Great turn down service, very quiet in the hallways, no disruptions, ordered Pizza from Pizza Luce and only took them 20 mins...

Overall fantastic stay, my kind of hotel and would be very happy to stay again.

The rooms at the Graves are smaller than some other hotels, but they are more than adequate and I love the decor - very clean and contemporary. The room is also very functional. Plugs everywhere for laptops/cell phones/etc. Shower was incredible. The only downside is that the design-ey decor uses a raised bowl sink in the bathroom which leaves limited space for toiletries, etc. on the counter. However, of the three places I've stayed in Minn (Marquette, Hyatt and Graves) this is my first choice to return to.

We stayed here the weekend of December 10-12, 2010, celebrating a 40th birthday. This was also the same weekend as the blizzard of the year when the dome collapsed and the city came to a complete stand still, but not the Graves!

This hotel is outstanding! This is by far the best room I have ever stayed in. The hotel is modern and contemporary. The only thing that was odd is the fact that you have to take the elevator up to the second floor only to exit and walk around the corner to access the next set of elevators.

The rooms were excellent! They have huge bathrooms with TVs. Our room looked out at Target Center which was right across the street. We couldn't see it though because of the snow storm. The highlight of the room, however, was the bed. It was heavenly! I actuallly called the hotel after our stay to find out what the mattress was--we have never slept better! The housekeeping manager called me right back with all of the information which in and of itself was impressive.

Despite the blizzard all of the common areas remained clean and orderly. The valets were coming in and assisting housekeeping with keeping the floors dry (as best they could). The staff had great attitudes even though their relief workers weren't able to get into work. The staff were all friendly and helpful!

I can't recommend this property enough! I can't wait to go back!!

Top of the line, truly luxurious hotel in downtown Minneapolis. You will remember every detail of the rooms. The bed was amazing with top of the line crisp sheets and a thick down comforter. The flat screen TV was huge. The furnishings were very scandinavian and modern. The bathroom had a separate stall for the toilet and a wonderful full body shower. Could have stayed in there for hours! The bar was hip and fun and hopping. Was sorry to have to leave it. Would love to stay here for a vacation and relax more. Highly recommended.
