“Shades of Autumn”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

If you love a good salad of the non-vegetarian variety, this is your place. I've been here many times and you cannot go wrong with their Shades of Autumn salad (the name, BTW, preceeded "50 Shades of Gray"). They change this salad up for the various seasons (Shades of Summer and so on. All are crave-worthy. A lovely mix of seasonal roasted vegetables, greens, grain (chicken and wild rice salad now) and, best of all, a "bacon steak" and a seasonal vinaigrette atop. The bacon is from local producers. It's wonderful and a very filling meal. When the weather is nice, they open it up and it's a wonderful indoor/outdoor spot. They are in a partnership with the fabulous garden shop (and CSA delivery spot) across the street, Tangletown Gardens. The garden surrounding the restaurant parking lot is worth a visit in late summer.

“Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen and wait staff.”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

We have been wanting to try out Wise Acre for some time as have heard GREAT things. I have to say I was disappointed. The server must not have been familiar with the soup as he described the soup as Polish sausage/Kielbasa with vegetables when in fact it was German sausage with cabbage. The kids farm raised sausage selection was a dried out hotdog that looked like an ordinary Bakalars dog and a coney bun that was so dried out it crumbled to pieces when my daughter bit into it. It also came with 4 small carrot strips. Such a deal for $9.
The bright spot was my husband's selection of the farm stew special. Tender beef and tomatoes in a smooth sauce.
The wait staff was aloof and cared more about maintaining their personal conversations than checking on the guests.
Must have been an off night.

“How great to eat food fresh from the farm”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

It makes a difference to me when I chose restaurants to know that they buy locally. Lucia's is another great example here in Minneapolis. But this is a step up from local - this is their own farm. The food is prepared masterfully - it's delicious. Who would have thought rhubarb ketchup would be so good? Everything I've eaten there has been great. Set inside of an old gas station - across the street from another old gas station that the owner turned into one of the best garden stores in town. He owns both the garden stores and the restaurant.

I will say that while my service has always been great, I know of others who have left because of not being waited on. I'm hoping they'll be seeing these reviews - I know the owner would not like this news.

“Two bad experiences.”
Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

Have been there twice. Bad experiences both times with slow confused service. They forgot our order the first time and we waited over an hour. The second experience was a little better but not enough to make a third visit likely. The food was fine but it was crowded and not worth the effort. With so many other excellent choices in the neighborhood, why risk another bad experience?

“WORTH DRIVING A LONG WAY”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

We stopped in 9/7 for lunch on the recommendation of my niece. We were too late for the special but the soup [vegetable beef] & half sandwich [roast beef] were wonderful. It was so good we arraigned to meet my niece and her husband there the next day. It was just as good,
