“You'll Go Back Again and Again”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Hazel's Northeast has quickly become our "go-to" spot for breakfast with the family. The restaurant is always jammed with people, but the wait is totally worth it because the menu and food selections are delicious...every time.

On our most recent trip to Hazel's (which happens to be a 30 mile jaunt one way for us) we arrived around 11 a.m. on Sunday and the wait time for our party of five was 40 minutes. Fortunately, Hazel's offers coffee while you wait - and not just any old coffee, but wonderfully brewed and rich coffee that I can't get enough of.

Once seated we shared the restaurant's famous caramel pecan roll. Actually two of them. They arrived dripping in caramel sauce, obviously freshly baked earlier in the day. Amazing!

My favorite breakfast item on the menu is the Meat Waffle. This Belgian sized waffle is stuffed with ham, bacon and cheese. When slathered in butter and maple syrup, it is a one of kind treat. Other favorite items include the special Hash topped with fresh eggs and the omelette is also terrific. Be sure to order a side of hash browns. Hazel's hash browns are so mouth-watering good that you might want a second serving.

The restaurant does more than just breakfast, so consider stopping in for lunch or happy hour. They offer a variety of wines and local craft beers. They also have some limited sidewalk tables for when the weather is good.

Enjoy!

“Vibrant Neighborhood Gem”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Hazel's is a few blocks from where my longtime friends live, and whenever I visit Minneapolis, this is the perfect weekend breakfast/brunch spot. The food is delicious--and you can identify healthy options if you're so inclined. Atmosphere is wonderful and cozy; service attentive. In nice weather, they have seating outside. Weekends can be super busy and involve a serious wait, so that's something to be aware of. But if it's a beautiful day, it's well worth it. No matter what, this is a lovely place that's right in the neighborhood if you're around the St. Anthony area in NE Minneapolis.

“"Nordeast" gem”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Yum! Breakfast is wonderful. The hash browns are divine-crispy with a hint of cheese. Lunch is good-small menu, but very tasty burgers. And for dinner, the butternut squash ravioli is excellent. I also once had a German chocolate bread pudding concoction that was crazy good. Great, friendly service every time.

Our first time at Hazel's and it won't be our last.
Went there for lunch and both of us enjoyed great sandwiches and sweet potato fries.
The service was very attentive and friendly.

“Hazels Northeast Neighborhood Treasure”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

We took advantage of the Dine Out for Life event to try a different restaurant outside our usual neighborhood. These businesses offered to donate a significant portion of the day's proceeds to HIV/AIDS research treatment and prevention efforts. We actively support small local restaurants and other businesses because they offer better services and contribute more to to our local economy. While crowded, the food and service were excellent. The Reuben with brisket on pumpernickel was excellent. My wife enjoyed the Greenway, a vegetarian falafel burger. I got the additional benefit of her pickle. (Sometimes it is good when your spouse doesn't like food items). Hazels is not far from Honeywell Stinson or the Quarry Home Depot and for a few blocks travel inland you get much better food and service than the usual fast food on 35W. I called a friend who works at Stinson and suggested lunch for next week.
