Owner description: The Museum of Russian Art is the only museum in North America devoted to preserving and presenting all forms of Russian art and artifacts. Housed in a beautifully renovated historic building, the Museum’s multi-level galleries provide a tranquil and intimate setting for TMORA’s exhibitions and educational events. Now on view: Women in Soviet Art: focusing on the representation and self-representation of women in Soviet art, this exhibition explores the roles and perspectives of women under the Soviet system from the 1950s–1980s.Jewish Life in the Russian Empire: Exhibited for the first time in 1867 at the seminal ethnographic exhibit in Moscow, the photographs depict a unique record of Jewish life in Tsarist Russia. It tells the story of Jewish communities within the Pale of Settlement, a region where permanent residency of Jewish peoples was allowed. Jewish Life in the Russian Empire will be on display in the lower gallery.

We very much liked the venue of this museum--a converted Italian Renaissance church. The Nicolai Fechin exhibit (through Jan 20, 2013) was very nice indeed. The permanent collection of icons was moderately interesting, but the overall charm of the museum made for a delightful couple of hours.

Liked this place a lot. Showing work of USSR artists and Nicolai Fechin when we were there. Well worth a visit, for sure. Very nice facility.

This museum is one of my favorites in Minneapolis. No matter what the current exhibit is, it's worth going. The Russian Art is so beautiful and thought provoking. Don't miss it if you're in the area.

My wife and I where staying downtown minneapolus at the Hiton hotel always a good spot. We wanted some food, culture and adventure. We hopped the 18 bus to 54th street to a organic Restaurant called Wise Acre ( recomended by the russian museum). It is in an old gas station. The food was past good the sevice great and the story/ adventure special. One block away is the Russian Museum. A small collection that the museum allows you to get up to the exibits and interact with the paintings. Bus adventure, food adventure, cultural event 4-5 hr. max. Get to it!!

The museum offers a great deal for those of us who were not familiar with Russia and its culture. I highly recommend a walk through. It's very beautiful
