The collection of Russian art is beautifully displayed and lit in what was once a church. Items from the permanent collection are enhanced with special exhibits of Russian art and culture. Many of the pieces portrary the former Soviet Union in different periods, providing a unique artistic history. The Ibiza, gift shop, is a must-see; a special exhibit all its own!

Small museum of classic art of old and modern Russia. The last time we were there we saw a display of all the fancy table china used by the last Czar, all the gold and painted plates and cups and a display of how the porcelain was made, from the grinding of bones to the location of the special clay. We say how bone china was made. Before that there was this huge collection of very fancy stacking dolls. It is a unique museum, worth seeing. It will only take 1-2 hours of touring.

The Museum of Russian Art is a hidden gem in south Minneapolis. It's also the only museum in the United States dedicated to Russian art. This is a small museum and the art inside is very accessible. Exhibits rotate about twice a year and have included painting, ceramics, textiles, photographs, prints and ancient artifacts. Everything I've seen there has been interesting and often so beautiful and compelling that I've made multiple visits to the same exhibit. Several shows have contained art that had never before left Russia. The museum store is worth a visit. Admission is $6.00. Students of all ages get in for free with I.D. Free parking in the Mayflower Church parking lot opposite the museum.
