“Fantastic Opera in the Midwest!”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

You don't have to go to New York to get fantastic opera! We have it right here in The Twin Cities! the Minnesota Opera is classic and also very innovating.....producing new operas each year. The venue at The Ordway has wonderful acoustics and is very beautiful! I go to at least one opera a year and just love what they do!

“First rate new opera for first time opera goers”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Thanks to the stellar cast and composer/librettist of the new opera "Doubt" for a wonderful performance ! We saw this new opera( its world premiere with Minneapolis Opera) and brought a first time opera goer with us. Much to our surprise and amazement, our 80 years young guest enjoyed and understood every scene during the 2.5 hour performance. We met another retiree who was there for the first time while waiting in line to purchase "Sister Aloysis" (Christine Brewer)'s CD and obtain her autograph. This first timer was also a retired teacher, both our guest and this coach had grown up and lived their lives in Minneapolis without thinking they would enjoy an opera. I'm so glad they were wrong and took a chance on going to see "Doubt."

The MN Opera location is stunning at night with all the lights on at Rice park. Very romantic and great restaurants in the area!

“Minnesota Opera saves you a trip to New York”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

I love it. There is no Chagall on the ceiling, and no great tower on the horizon, but the music is excellent, the building is beautiful and comfortable. Ordway is surrounded by good food and a struggle to park is infrequent. When I can get there by rail from the west I will really be happy. If you like opera... you must have HD TV and Blu-ray.

“Outstanding - A Twin Cities, Upper Midwest Gem”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

I have been a fan of Minnesota Opera for several years. Their productions are balanced in variety and quality, and focused in number. The Ordway is an ideal venue for opera, reminds me of classical European theaters. Frankly, being a transplant from East Coast, and having lived in major "cultural" cities in US, Europe, and Asia, I was pleasantly surprised by Minnesota Opera. It truely is a Twin Cities and Upper Midwest gem.
