“Very nice for extended stay”
Reviewed August 26, 2007

Overall excellent stayed at the Resident Inn, the Depot in Minneapolis. I had to stay in Minneapolis for 13 days for business and my work had reserved this hotel for us. I can said the best part of that business trip was the hotel. The desk staff was very nice and helpful and the kitchen staff was very very friendly, especially Sally. Every weekday morning, I will get a very enthusiastic “Good Morning” and “Thank You”. The hallway was bright and clean. I had a suite on the first floor #133 that included a kitchenette, microwave, refrigerator, and a dishwasher. I had no view and faced the street, so I can hear the occasional trucks and buses, that was a little annoying. But I got the higher ceiling compared the room in the forth floor , that made the room so much more spacious and comfortable. My business rate is $130/night.

The hotel included free hot breakfast from 6am-9am with egg, susage, biscuits/pancake, fruits, pastries, ready to cook waffle, juice, coffee, tea, etc. Also most of Monday through Thursday evenings have theme social hours 5:30-7pm where they have mini meal such as chili dogs, beef stew and garlic bread, etc. with all you can drink beer, wine, and juice. I was a great way to meet people and get out of the room.

The exercise room is shared with the adjacent hotel. It is adequate but toward the small size. On the to the exercise room is a indoor waterpark. Staying in either hotel can give you a discount to the waterpark admission.

There is not too much to eat around that area, but there is a Thai restaurant, Sawatdee, close by (2 blocks) that was very good with reasonable price ($12/dish). There is also a great Irish pub 4 block away with live music called Kieran’s. It is quite a walk from downtown where most of the restaurants and bars are and about three/four block from the train station. They also have parking available for $6/night.

This place was GREAT! Big room with completely outfitted kitchen, SO clean, bed and couch/chairs were all very comfortable. Walk out through the back exit and cut through the parking lot through to the Renaissance Inn, a sister hotel, outside of which is where I caught my shuttle bus every day. I was in town for a conference; if you want to walk to the convention center it is pretty darned far from this hotel (and you walk by some seedy XXX places), but thankfully could take a shuttle. You're pretty close to a metro rail stop, which I took straight from the airport and walked right to the hotel with no problem (although it might be stretch if you're hauling more than one big piece of luggage). I thought this was a really nice place, especially for the price!

This is a fairly typical urban Residence Inn. Single building, four floors. Studios and suites are clean and comfortable. Note that the studio and the 1BR suites are the same size, only with a wall in the 1BR. If you are travelling with kids, you'll want that wall, but if you are solo, the studios actually feel more spacious.

Hotel is usually quiet, but can get noisy on summer weekends and on game days.

About 5 blocks to the Metrodome. A few restaurants nearby, but if you are looking for wide selection of dining and nightlife options, this is the wrong side of downtown.

The hotel is connected to and co-managed with the adjacent Courtyard hotel, so you can order room service from the Courtyard restaurant. But the only exercise room is in the Courtyard, so it's a bit of a hike to get there - call it your warmup and cool down walk, I guess.

Free breakfast buffet has sausage patties and scrambled eggs, potatoes and biscuits, oatmeal, cereal, waffles and pastries. Somehow it all tastes a bit stale. Weeknight social hour has free cheap-tasting wine & light beer, plus a light supper item.

Staff is very friendly and helpful.

  • Liked — residence inn room size with courtyard room service.

My mother and I stayed here while visiting Minneapolis.

We had struggled to find something adequate downtown that wasnt booked or expensive, and we called this hotel, and managed to get a room for $109.00 a night, and it was a LOT less expensive than the Courtyard ($80.00 less), and it even included breakfast.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite on the 3rd floor (327), and it was spotless. We did have an issue with the door not closing properly, however it was fixed in a very prompt manner.

The breakfast was very good, and the water park was great!

We liked it so much, that we ended up staying 2 nights.

The hotel was not too far from a bus that would take you right out to the Mall of America.

We'd definately make this our first choice whenever we go back.

This is a nice, clean hotel in a great location. You can walk all over downtown and to the Metrodome. The breakfast during the week is nice and the hotel is attached to an ice skating rink.

I stayed here with my 3 kids and my best friend who was visiting from out-state. We live in the city, but stayed downtown to watch the ice skaters and to play in the waterpark. The hotel room itself is incredibly basic and cheaply put together - but is fine for kids. The best part, by far, was the waterpark. We had a lot of fun there, even though it was crowded. My friend and I were up half the night because of the parties going on in the hotel. We kept calling management, knocking on the doors of the offending parties (and this is at 1am, 2am, 3am), etc. We could hear every word of what was going on in the room next door, and every time a door would close the slam would wake us back up. I don't think they've heard of insulation at the Residence Inn. Definitely one of the most tiring experiences staying at a hotel!

My family and friends and I (6 total) stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in April. When I made the reservation online, I selected the roll-away bed feature since we had a two teens of opposite sex with us, with my wife and I in one bed, our married friends in the other and one teenage on the sofa sleeper and one on the sofa sleeper. I even CALLED the hotel to verify this setup and was assured that it would not be a problem.

Upon arrival, we checked into the room and found that there was no roll-away. The room also smelled heavily of smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room and the windows were wide open with a strong smell of disinfectant to mask the smoke oder. i called down to the front desk and inquired about our roll away and ws told that THEY DON'T HAVE ROLL AWAYS AT THIS PROPERTY. I was stunned.

For the $249 rate, I was very disappointed. The room was not very clean and the service was marginal at best; I expected much more from a Marriott property.
