“Pleasant Staff, Comfy Room, Delightful Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2010

Our family traveled to Minneapolis over the Labor Day Weekend 2010. We booked this hotel on a friend's recommendatio. The location was great and the stay memorable. We enjoyed the Billard room and daily breakfast. Was close to light rail. Would definitely stay here again. (Did hear a few sirens at night. But most likely nothing unusual for a downtown location.)

We have three small children and travel with them frequently. I usually try to book accomodations that have at least 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. We have stayed at many Residence Inns. The location of this property is very nice, just a block from the river and a nice walking path along the old mills. The staff could not be nicer and more helpful. They do have a rather cute smaller water park that my children really enjoyed, but is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So we only had one opportunity to use the park, despite our four night stay. The park also is not included in the room rate, unless you book a package (which they seem to just build in the rate they charge without the package minus a small discount). We had a booked a two bedroom and upon check-in we were placed in a ADA room. I really do not like to have this type of room, as I have small children and the lack of a bathtub (in the one bathroom) and the slippery floor make it challenging. But what I did find surprising was the tight quarters. My husband remarked that as an able bodied person he was having difficulty manuvering around the beds and could not imagine if he were actually disable what it would be like. The kitchen was small and certainly could use a little updating. I am not sure that I would stay here again.

I had stayed at this hotel for 2 days on my business trip. the hotel location is great as it is in downtown plus it is at quieter location. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing. The biggest deal is the they have great breakfast and evening social. it is great place to stay

This hotel is where we stay when we go to the Metrodome to watch the vikings. It has parking and we stay and walk to the dome. It is about 3 blocks to walk but you walk by the tailgaters and it makes the pregame even more exciting. We have stayed at other hotels and done the shuttle and one time we stood outsisde at the shuttle pick-up for 45 minutes and it was 12 below, never again. We go to the game, then after, eat at spaggetti factory, then we walk back to our hotel and by then the traffic is lighter we avoid the headache of bumper to bumper fans. The rooms are nice and for Downtown Quiet. They have a ice rink and a waterpark, and the Free breakfast is wonderful. Staff is helpful and it is connected to the Renissence Hotel and they have taxi's by the door 27/7 and many fine dining and bars with-in a 5 dollar taxi ride.

I organized a reunion of three generations of five families this fall. And the Residence Inn was perfect. In addition to the prime location, which made taxis and rental cars unnecessary (light rail is easy), the fabulous pool was great for kids of all ages. The breakfasts were also among the best I've seen. The hotel has plent of space for adults to visit late into the night; and the bar at the adjoining Renaissance was very convenient. Mostly, it was the service that exceeded everyone's expectations. Everyone there went out of their way to be of assistance. And for those adding an extra night, the management extended the weekend rate. Not many hotels would have done that; and I'm a frequent business traveler. For a family or families needing a fun place to gather, this is it. First rate.

We travel lots with our kids (4 kids under 6 years old) so we always stay at properties that offer suites with full kitchens.
Negatives-
1. The property is extremely dated with a funny smell in the lobby. Plus, the lighting is very bad making it look even more gloomy and dingy.
2. There is no pool and the water park is open only on Fri to Sun. There's no outside park or activities for the kids.
3. The manager's reception consisted of hot dogs and nachos.
4. Parking is a scam. Park your car across the street in the open lot.

Positives-
1. Room size is reasonable.
2. Customer service is okay, not particularly stellar.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2009

We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite which was perfect since the boys are teenagers – with the sleeper sofa, we each had our own space at night but were still together since the bedrooms open into the living room area.

Everything was spotless; the maid even ran our dishwasher at night. Complete kitchen. Three TVs. The water park is meant for smaller children but the boys (16 and 13) still enjoyed it, as they did the arcade and snack area. (We bought a $14 pizza there and ate it over 2 days.) Free breakfast was great as was the free cocktail hour (Monday – Thursday) with a changing light dinner menu. (We had “build your own nachos.”)

The location is good, only 3 blocks from the Mill City Museum and the light rail which takes you to the Mall of America (both recommended).

The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. GREAT service. I was even chosen “Guest of the Day” and received a goody bag upon arrival.

This is my first time at a Residence Inn but it won’t be the last.
