Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot

The hotel is certainly nice. The hallways are very long and if you get the wrong room it's pretty far from the lobby. The rooms are very standard, no frills.

We spent a getaway weekend with our 3 grandsons (ages 6, 8, 10) so that we could play at the Depot Waterpark. The rooms were very nice and the staff was helpful. The restaurants were excellent but a little pricey for 3 little guys. All-in-all very nice!

Room Tip: There are pleny of "fun" restaurants within walking distance that will ave you money over...

We stayed for a little family get away weekend. The train themed waterpark and the train decor throughout the hotel were BIG hits! Clean and very friendly and helpful staff!

I loved the room, the staff, and especially Charley's Grill.

I ordered some specific things, not on the menu. I also substituted one item. It was no worries. I would go back just for Charley's Grill alone.

The Staff was very helpful. The rooms were nice, but I had to call down to the Main Desk to get a small fridge (should have been standard) and the beds are at a 90 degree angle from the TV. We had the $14.00 evening Buffet which was only mediocre. There are only 2 VERY small elevators servicing the entire Hotel, in the morning to get down to the Main floor we waited at the elevator for about 25 minutes. They charge you $15.00 for parking and they tax that for over another $1.00. Shouldn't parking come with your stay at their Hotel? The water park was small and very crowded and they charge $10.00 per person. They will charge you for everything they can. I will never stay at this place again.

We stayed here for a few days and enjoyed our stay and got a good rate. Conveniently located, clean hotel with comfortable rooms and has a little "water park" attached to it. The hotel is mostly "business" people. Our room was a little akwardly situated with the bed and tv and they charge for WIFI like many hotels in its range. Parking was available for a decently reasonable fee (I think $19 per day).

We tried to return 2 days later after staying with family and the rate shot up over $100, so we went elsewhere for our last night in MLPS.

I would stay here or the Westin down the street, whichever is cheaper and they are very comparable.

For a hotel that has a waterpark AND an ice skating rink to lure parents of young children in...VERY POOR service. We booked 3 nights for a weekend getaway thinking it would be a great place to crash with the little ones while the older children played in the waterpark. WRONG. The waterpark was so overpacked I spent the night standing guard over my 7 and 9 year old while they were battered by the kids all around. Not only were the lifeguards inattentive, they seemed more dispositioned to seeing if you'd ponied up your 10.00 for their "should have been included" wristbands. Eventually 1/2 of the waterpark was closed off which led to most of the swimmers leaving. However, the roped off section was never reopened. I had asked for a cot in our room and for a room on an upper level, neither were accomodated although they had sent me an email telling me in advance they would be. Also, if you want more than 1 cup of coffee in the morning. Be prepared to be jacked for 2.00 per cup in the hotel lobby, OR you can buy their overpriced The DEPOT Renaissance coffee cup for 12.00 to commemorate your screwing. Oh yeah, and if you want to write a review online while you're experiencing the fabulous fun of the Renaissance...you can pay 10.00 to have WIFI. The only thing they don't charge you for is the fart, and they'll probably figure that out next year.

Room Tip: Rooms are small, we were placed right by the waterpark entrance - not good for sleeping babies, but...
