“Overpriced for food and experience”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

My husband and I chose to stay here for our 10 year anniversary. It was a disappointing experience. We both had the tasting menu with the wine flight at dinner. The presentation was flawless, the service very good but the food was less than average. There wasn't any "bad" food but it certainly wasn't great food (or even good). We talked about leaving after the first two courses but didn't know how to pull off a graceful exit so we stuck it out. The desert was by far the best course and all of the wines very good. Surprisingly the server never asked about the food quality when taking a plate with only a bite or two gone. A waste of $300 on dinner (not including the room). The hotel room was fine. There are a lot better hotels and restaurants in Minneapolis that cost the same or less. We are willing to pay for a great experience but this one wasn't one of them. We won't be going back.

Our son and wife (who live in Singapore) hosted a dinner here in December 2012 for 60 family members and friends to celebrate their marriage and birth of their son. The Inn was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the lower level where the reception and dinner were held was very elegant and a perfect place for a dinner party. The food was delicious and the staff very pleasant. Go for dinner sometime and enjoy the neat setting of this historic inn which sits on an island in the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis.

Room Tip: We didn't actually stay at the Inn so can't pass on any info on the rooms.

We enjoyed our daughter and son-in-law's lovely, intimate wedding in a private dining room at the Nicolett Island Inn restaurant on December 23rd. Looking outside the restaurant's large expansive windows, we viewed a beautiful, picturesque snowy setting with an occasional horse drawn carriage going by. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. As busy as they were, they made us feel like we were the only ones there and catered to our every need. This historic restaurant was so romantic and beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays. Made for wonderful wedding photos. Thank you for making our daughter's wedding a memorable event!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We thoroughly enjoyed being able to host your daughter's wedding, and are thrilled that we met or exceeded your expectations! Weddings are a big part of the Inn and we always enjoy adding new couples to our "Family"!
I will be sure to let our catering department and Chef know how much you enjoyed everything. We hope to see you all again in the future!

My wife and I took a much needed weekend away from out busy schedules and the Nicollet Island Inn was the perfect place to do it. We live in the Twin Cities, but the weekend felt like we were visiting a place to explore. The room was great and the food delicious. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant at the Inn. Both were great and service excellent. On Sunday we indulged in the brunch and were not disappointed.
The room was quiet and we had time to decompress. We especially enjoyed the neighborhood around the Inn. We spend Friday afternoon and Saturday morning exploring the Island and the river front area around it.

My boyfriend had purchased a groupon for a one night stay here. The service here was incredible. Everyone was genuinely kind. The food was above and beyond our expectations, our server was so patient with us. The room was very simple no big flashy decor simple and vintage, this is not a "getaway stay" hotel. More of a sweet romantic escape! They have horse and carriage rides just outside the restaraunt. Couldn't have been happier with our stay. We are already planning another stay <3

We are lucky that The Hitching Company picks up right outside our doors – perfect for a sweet romantic escape as you mentioned. I value your positive feedback and hope to again exceed your expectations during your next stay.

First, I must admit that this stay at the Nicollet Island Inn was a result of a Groupon deal that included a $40 wine credit. That said, we enjoyed our stay.

The first impression that one is left with is that the entire staff (hotel and restaurant) are professional, courteous, and helpful.

The location makes all the major Minneapolis attractions easily accessible. On top of that, the available parking is so much more convenient than that available at other hotels. As a runner, I appreciate the fact that the hotel is located near a walking/jogging/biking trail that runs along the river.

The hotel itself is well maintained. The room is well appointed and comfortable.

If one is looking for a comfortable Twin Cities get-away, the Nicollet Island Inn is a great option.
