“What's not to love...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

... except the wait. Shepherds pie, delish. Fish 'n chips. Near perfection. A pint of Guinness. Oh, yeah! Nice wait staff, fun patrons.

But about that wait...

“As good as the best in Dublin!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

I've been all over Dublin, Ireland, and London and Anchor Fish and Chips is as good as the best of the best and in many, many cases better than the majority of what is considered "great" fish and chips. First off, the quality of the Alaskan cod is excellent. Second, the batter they make and use is perfect. The fish is battered fresh just as you order it then cooked to a golden brown perfection. The chips are lovely and "meaty" as they should be and plentiful on the plate. Yes, if you go between 7pm and 8:30pm there is a bit of a wait but that is to be expected. What makes the wait pass is the unusual fact that the Anchor serve Guinness and other tasty pints so you can have one while you wait for your table. Now, how can you top that at any other fish and chip place???

“Small but fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

This place is small, resulting in a rather long wait....but it. Was worth it. The food, which is British pub style, is really, really good...and super hot! My wife had the fish and chips, and I had the shepherds pie...both wonderful. Also had the mushy peas which were delicious.

“Great casual dining - tough to get in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This casual restaurant in once blue-collar, now artsy, but always interesting"Nordeast" Minneapolis is a real treat. Reasonably priced, large portions and very tasty. There are often lines to get in but it's worth the wait, or there are other fine restaurants very nearby.

“Real Food and Friendly Serivce”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Having been disappointed the previous day by a big name Minneapolis restaurant we decided on the Anchor for lunch. There's nothing pretentious about this establishment - just good food and service. The fish sandwich contained a generous portion of fish and was really tasty. The iced tea was exceptional and the service was prompt and friendly. I'd visit again if I'm back in Minneapolis.
