Owner description: THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

I have seen many productions here. You don't need to go to NYC to see great acting and most amazing set productions. And, go early to the show so you can enjoy a drink and take some pictures on the endless bridge which overlooks the Mississippi river. The Guthrie is truly a Minnesota Treasure.

We had a great time at the play we went to . The actors were great, the atmosphere was amazing. It was nice to walk around the theater during the intermission and see pictures and sculptures and of course a great view!

Spectacular theater experience all around. Not a bad seat in the house and the full Guthrie Theater environment. Just go.

The Guthrie building is open to the public most days and evenings. It offers incredible views of the riverfront, stone arch bridge, locks, 35W bridge, Hennepin and 3rd Ave bridges, the UofM and Minneapolis skyline.

The endless bridge brings you out to riverfront where you have a panoramic view of the waters and all the activity on the riverfront.

Go up to the 9th floor and enjoy 360 degree views of the city if Minneapolis.

Explore the lobbies and unique architecture of this Theater.

In the evening the restaurants and bars are open as well as the gift shop.

There are back stage tours and purchase tickets to some of the most incredible productions in the world.

Five stars for the Guthrie experience!! Our evening began with dinner at the Guthrie's Level Five Cafe--menu is limited, but there are enough choices for everyone. Entrees were delicious! The theater building itself is unique with beautiful views of the river. The performance of "My Fair Lady" did not disappoint--everything about it was near perfect from the acting to the choreography, from the set design to the costuming. A simply marvelous production!! Our accommodations at the Aloft Hotel (ask for the "Guthrie discount") were excellent--the best part was the simple walk across the street to get from the Guthrie to the Aloft: no driving hassle at night on unfamiliar streets made for a perfect ending to our "loverly" evening.
