Owner description: THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

“Beautiful Theatre. Not a Bad Seat In The House”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

Love everything about it. They have a cute little gift shop. The bar has fun cocktails (margarita with jalapeños, very tasty.) The way the stage is positioned I don't think there's a bad sea in the house.
My only suggestions to them is to organize a cab line for when the productions are over. We were staying downtown so we took a cab there. That night it was very cold and had to walk a couple of blocks to flag one down. The desk had called one for us but there was so many people someone just grabbed it. Any other cities has cabs lined up. Not sure why it's not like this in Minneapolis.

“Gem of Minneapolis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

The Guthrie Theater is one of the best things about Minneapolis. Not only do they produce world-class theater, but also the building itself is a gem to explore. If you go in the summer, make sure you enjoy a drink outside on the floating bridge. Great views!

This is an awesome building with fantasic views and amazing shows performed inside. I was able to see Pride and Predjudice and the cast, seating, space was amazing. If you have the opportunity to see a show in this building definitely take the chance to go.

“A Christmas Carol Production”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2013

On a recent trip to Minneapolis, I went to the Guthrie to see A Christmas Carol. What a treat. While there was some interpretation of Charles Dickens' original story, it was a charming and lovely holiday treat. The stage was amazing. You felt like you were part of the story. Costumes were lovely. I would highly recommend seeing a production at the Guthrie. Comfortable seating, nice bathrooms, good bar, great view of the Stone Arch Bridge. Great experience.
