Owner description: THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

One of my favorite buildings in the Twin Cities..I always take visitors to wander around the Guthrie (even if we aren't attending a performance). However, it's a wonderful place to attend a performance due to the variety of theatres and quality of actors. And having great food choices onsite - another plus!

We saw A Christmas Carol last Saturday after a wonderful dinner at Sea Change just downstairs in this great venue. We thought we had reasonably decent seats but were blown away by the sightlines and the proximity to the Wurtele Thrust stage. In looking and walking around the theatre, most seats are good. Staging was done right and we had a great time. Easy to navigate, interesting building with convenient parking right across the street.

Great place to enjoy live theatre. The building itself is worth a trip. The professionals in their plays are outstanding and make an afternoon or evening very enjoyable. Kudos to the guthrie.

I really like the new Guthrie! Longest escalator in town get one upstairs to the theaters.
I like getting tickets on the cheap when possible. Parking on the street is most economical, but most nearby meters are limited to 2 hours.
