If you are not "fluent" in getting around the skyway it will be difficult to get around. There are several nice stores and is very clean. The locals were surprisingly helpful and friendly.

A lot of boutiques close to the hôtel with everything you need. Restaurants on the boardwalk and free bus line were very appreciated.

It was a neat experience. I was a bit disappointed with the actual store/shopping, but theres no lack of places to grab a bite to eat or a beer. It's one of those places that you are glad you visited once but likely won't go back (unless you find a really good place to eat). If you are short on time go a few blocks over to Hennepin Avenue which we enjoyed a lot more on our stay.

We visited the Nicollet Mall and there were many storefronts that were closed. As we walked further down the mall, we did go to Macy's, which was huge and had a good shopping experience there. We then ate at one of the restaurants, went to Walgreen's, and were done in about 2.5 hours. Not many people there on a Saturday.

This is a nice area to shop. Lots of stores, restaurants and bars. Only downside is that on Sundays some of stores open late (12 noon or later) and quite a few restaurants (mostly the chain restaurants) are closed.
