You can go to Lake St. and find just about anything you need. The last time I went there was to get some Mexican food...and it was awesome!

“Downtown fringe neighborhoods”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

We lived near here many years ago. It has changed some over that time, but it is still where many nationalities call home. From the bridge over the Mississippi River to Lake Calhoun, you drive through several miles of busy, colorful and less expensive residential and business areas where you might want to keep your doors locked in the later hours. It is never boring. You can find eateries of almost any nationality conceivable.

“Good Restaurants in a busy area.”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

I have lived over 2 blocks from lake street. Grew up walking down it, riding the buses. The traffic is terrible. Pedstrians dont follow laws and jaywalk. There is a lot of crime in certain areas. Uptown is nice, anything west of that is to. But from Lyndale till it becomes marshall it is a mess, not that marshall is a charming street but lakestreet has more low parts. Be careful by nicolete avenue, that is certainly a mess, down to chicago avenue. MidTown market is great to stop by though. And over in the midway area is there is a good buffet, a savers, an aldis. The cop shop is on minnehaha avenue and lake street. That Target is fair but traffic to get tehre is tough. The Cub and Rainbow have long lines all the time. The Dennys isnt anything special. There are so many better areas in the twin cities to spend your time this this strip.

Between Lake Calhoun and I 35 W, lots of great shops and restaurants and entertainment. Very trendy place to live and go for night life.
