I stay at this hotel every time I go to Minneapolis. It is close to the main downtown hot spots, very clean, and the staff is fantastic. It's rare you find all these key aspects in a hotel. The only downside is they don't have a hot tub and parking is via valet (ie. additional charge). However, if your traveling to Minneapolis and want to stay downtown you can't go wrong with this hotel.

We stayed here on the New Year's Eve weekend to see a Vikings game. At the time of our stay, if you stayed over a Sunday night and showed the front desk your Vikings ticket stubs, they took $30 off your room rate for the Sunday night. The front desk staff wasn't aware of the promotion, so I printed off the hotel home page where the promotion is referenced, and they honoured it without question.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Metrodome, if that. Target, Macy's and other shopping areas, as well as restaurants are easily within walking distance as well. Haskell's liquor store is a 5 minute walk away and has an incredible selection of wine and beer. They are not open on Sunday. The hotel is directly next to the I-35W ramp which makes it very easy to get to virtually any part of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

The hotel offers a free shuttle to the nearest Light Rail station, but we didn't take advantage of this. I have used the light rail before and it is a great way to get to the Mall of America if you don't want to drive.

Our rate included breakfast, but it is normally priced at $12.95 and kids 12 and under eat free. The breakfast includes hot, made to order items such as french toast, waffles, pancakes, omelets, eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausages, etc. as well as standard buffet items such as toast, cereal, yogurt, pastries, juice, coffee/tea and other items. Fresh fruit, including strawberries, was also available. There is a nice bar in the dining area as well, but we didn't venture here in the evenings.

Coffee is available in the lobby in the morning and I believe it is refreshed again at check-in time. It isn't replenished at night but tea bags are left out so you can use these in your room.

The gym had 3 treadmills (2 of which were not working during our stay) 2 ellipticals and a recumbent bike. There was also a full set of weights, heavy balls, and a stability ball. Free weights are not commonly found in hotels so this was a nice bonus for us. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice, although not very large.

Staff throughout the hotel was excellent and housecleaning was particularly diligent. I've never really noticed housecleaning efforts before but I did at this hotel. Our various electrical cords were nicely wrapped up, areas were tidied and bathrooms were spotless. It seemed that they took some extra care as opposed to most places.

Rooms are standard but more than adequate. We had a 2 double bed room. Beds are adjustable on each side, which is something I haven't seen before. I didn't find it made that much of a difference to me, but it may to some. Rooms have a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. TVs are updated, widescreens and channel selection was fine.

For the price we paid ($99 breakfast included) it was excellent value and the location was great for taking advantage of what the downtown has to offer.

When trying to decide where in the area to eat (we are not familiar with the city) Erica at the front desk was incredibly helpful and courteous. She knew all the wonderful dining opportunities the area had to offer, along with great directions and even some of her favorite meal choices. I knew any questions I had could be answered by her without hesitation. Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn was an amazing experience, one that will keep me coming back here on my next trip to Minneapolis

From the beautiful decor in the lobby to the smiles from EVERY employee even down to the attention to detail with housekeeping, this hotel is a must try. I stay here very often and every time have a great time. Everyone is friendly and there are no rowdy guests bothering your quiet evenings. With convenient locations next to the Convention center, Metrodome, several resturants and of course Nicollet Mall there is always something nearby for you to do. They even have a towncar on-site to get you anywhere downtown for just $7 bucks! I will come back for sure. These guys try to make you feel right at home and their customer service is to be excited about!

if you need something, the man to see is Adam at the bar. Like "Jimmy the Bartender", Adam will not only give you advise but also will be able to hook you up with different "venues." Be sure to stop by for a drink before going to your room to retire.
