The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has free entry to the museum. Our favorite sections are the Asian Arts and the Indiginous Peoples exhibit. The Asian section has several buildings and rooms on display complete with furniture and artifacts. We also love to eat lunch in the D' Amico and sons resturant and then visit the museum's wonderful gift shop. The museum also has special exhibits for a fee and free guided tours. So please visit the museum and enjoy the very large collection of art from all periods and parts of the world.

The MIA is one of the very few free major museums in America it seems. They have an excellent collection with some of the major classical artist well represented. I wish there Roman and Greek collections were stronger but the oriental art makes up for that shortfall. My wife and I go there regularly and often I bring the grand kids. They always fine something new to see. This is a wonderful way to spend a day when Minnesota is cold and you just don't want to deal with the outdoors.

MIA still gets the best shows. The recent Rembrandt exhibit is a case in point. Used to love the shows at the Walker during the M. Friedman reign, but then it dwindled down pathetic, bizarre shows and is on the rebound a bit with the new director. The MIA has never gone through those odd transitions. Parking is easy and if you are visiting Mpls, don't miss this one - FREE admission everyday except for those blockbuster shows. Great gift shop, too. Time it so you can stop by for lunch or dinner at the nearby German standby- "The Black Forest Inn".

Not really fair, as I am a member and love to visit my old friends here. The Rembrandt show was great, as I knew it would be. Am so glad the Lucretia is now behind plexiglass so I can sleep at night. :)
They always do the admissions on a timed basis so you are not over-run by crowds, and can see and view in peace. When you're there stop up and see the other wonderful things in the Italian Renaissance collection. There's a Titian, a Tiepolo, and many others. You will not be sorry you went. This is one of the great museums in the nation. The staff is always friendly, and I've literally never once been sorry I went there. If your spirit needs a jolt of ...well...spirit, go !

This is a terrific fine arts museum that is free to the public, although donations are certainly encouraged. Perhaps not as extensive as big city fine arts museums, but what is there is fantastic and well-presented.
