“Very nice, trendy hotel”
Reviewed May 20, 2010

I think It could be one of the best hotels I´ve ever been. Very nice location, luxurious lobby and reception. Check in, check out pleasant. The Foshay tower - amazing building. I was on the observation deck on the 3Oth floor also. Room was modern, but comfortable. Bathroom with window large and shower was like in spa. Bar -Living room was great, but bar Prohibition was not so good, comfortable, but narrow and staff was +-. Connection via skyways was great .

I am staying at the W hotel for business and know fairly well Minneapolis. I thought I would have a better service in W Forshay, but this is miserable. Noisy room, holes in the sheet cover, minibar nor refurbished for two days. Dinner room service just as you would expect it in a fast food restaurant but three times the price. 1 liter of water at 8 dollars, just overdone and poor. I will not recommend this hotel nor come back again. There are better places with better service and quality. All is simply overdone.

I was suprised at how friendly the staff was, from the valet, to the front desk, to housekeeping. The valet gave us an overview of the hotel, mentioned the observation deck, local restaurants, etc. The hotel is quite modern. We stayed in the Fabulous room - a corner room on the 17th floor. It had a great view -about the size of a studio apt (minus the kitchen). We brought our own wine and snacks and invited friends over to share the view. We ventured up to the observation deck (FYI - only 1 elevator goes to the observation deck. You can try your luck or go to the front desk and they can call the elevator. The 3 other elevators top out at the Prohibition bar). Great views!

Food - We ate at Manny's for lunch. Best steak we've ever had! We had a late lunch on Friday, and had the restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter was wonderful and had time give us details on Manny's and make recommendations.

Location - I was disappointed with Nicollett Blvd.. I thought this was going to be similar to State St or Michigan Ave - with Shopping and Food.. But was disappointed with the shopping. Only Macy's, Nordstrom, etc..
We did use the free Acura several times. We took it to Rosen's bar which has a fabulous happy hour from 4-10p - $3 you call it. Had several wonderful Guinnesses.
Diablo's on Nicollet Blvd is a great Tequila bar. Wonderful Latin food! Great margaritas - not too sweet!

We are not lovers of 'clubs' so did not dig the very popular bar in the lobby. The music was really loud, but could not hear it from our room.

One odd thing we encountered, it looks like we had a cleaned room, but seems like we had leftover toiletries. The shower contained 1/4 empty bottle of conditioner and the shampoo was not the hotel brand.

Overall I would return to the Foshay. Our room was quite, great view. The bed is heavenly. Staff is very friendly.

We stayed at the Foshay after flying in from Seattle before a weekend out to see folks a few hours outside the cities. The hotel was hip and trendy and the weekend rates were just a steal! The rooms are rather small but very well designed - not a lot of room to walk around, but a very good renovation of such a classic building. The bars were busy and fun - Prohibition upstairs has great views and nice cocktails. The workout room is also pretty nice - plenty of machines and practically nobody there on a Saturday morning! The bathroom was interesting in that it had a floor to ceiling window! The shower had a really nice design. You are also pretty close to everything in the trendier part of downtown including Hell's Kitchen (make reservations) where we went for breakfast before heading deep into the heart of Minnesota. Would definitely stay again.

Room was tight, but that's what I expected. Bathroom had a HUGE shower that was awesome. Love the Bliss Spa products. Bed was cozy and had a nice view of downtown. Had drinks at Prohibition, it was a rainy night so not much of a view. But I imagine during a clear summer night the views are amazing. Drinks prices were steep but worth it. Had an early lunch at Manny's. Now, I've been hearing raves about Manny's for almost 10 years, so I jumped at the chance to eat there. Good portions, excellent service, tasty food. Loved the atmosphere. Location was perfect, easy access to the skywalk and shopping!

Very nice establishment. Off site parking was easy to find and just across the street. Valet staff was very good as well. This is a place you need to visit. The history is oozing there. Check-in was excellent, lounges were very clean and comfortable. Wait-staff was excellent. Rooms are a must see. And don't forget a visit to the longe on the 27th floor. Great location for getting around Minneapolis. We got very good group rate for rooms.
