Owner description: The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is closed for renovation, and will reopen in June 2017. One of the crown jewels of the city’s park system, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden unites two of Minnesota’s most cherished resources—its greenspace and its cultural life. A partnership with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, the Garden is a top destination for tourists to enjoy art like the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry in an outdoor park setting.

“Good for good weather!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The sculpture garden has the most iconic view of Minneapolis with the cherry sculpture and it is right next to the Walker art center so if you are planning on going to the Walker and the weather is nice, hit up the sculpture garden too. You could also picnic here if the weather is nice for lunch and then let your kids run around the garden afterwards.

“Do not miss!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is a joint project of the Minneapolis Park Department and the Walker Art Center and celebrated it's 25th anniversary in 2013. It is one of the largest sculpture gardens in the US, and contains work from some of the most important and noted contemporary sculptors in the world. Built in the framework of classical European formal gardens, the "rooms" include work by Sol LeWitt, Mark di Suvero, Ellsworth Kelly and many others. Along the "allee"" are smaller pieces by Deborah Butterworth, Marino Marini and George Segal. Don't miss the Jennifer Holzer installation, the Cowles Conservatory with the tiny Sarah Sze pieces "Grow or Die", and the giant Frank Gehry "Standing Glass Fish", and the James Turrell room "Sky Pesher" across the street next to the Walker Art Center. And of course, take a picture by Claus Oldenburg's iconic "Spoonbridge and Cherry". Everyone does!

“iconic art”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

What is a trip to the cities without a picture by the iconic cherry on a spoon? Some very neat sculptures. Make sure to check out the little green house area with some interesting plants and art as well. Best of all it is free!

“Acres of beauty”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

After a couple of hours viewing art at the MIA, we drove over to the sculpture garden to enjoy the fall weather and let our little one run! Having heard it was a treat , weren't disappointed at all. While everyone knows the cherry in the spoon, we were blessed to see a combination of world class sculptures in an place that was like A pleas touch me museum, with lovely gardens, water features and a family friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to see it in other seasons of the year to view them again!

“Liked the Spoon bridge and Cherry”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

I'm not into art, but wanted to see the sculpture garden, which was a nice and peaceful especially off season. Enjoyed walking around with pleasant weather.
The walker Art center is free on Thursday nights 5-9 and some Saturdays. My husband visited the Garden Cafe and had some coffee, they have some tables to sit and relax in.
