Owner description: The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is closed for renovation, and will reopen in June 2017. One of the crown jewels of the city’s park system, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden unites two of Minnesota’s most cherished resources—its greenspace and its cultural life. A partnership with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, the Garden is a top destination for tourists to enjoy art like the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry in an outdoor park setting.

Disclaimer: I'm not the artsy type of person.
That being said, the sculpture garden is just a walk around a park with weird "sculptures" that people call art...
Also there's a closed nursery where different species are shown and that's pretty much it...
I guess it's ok for a 30-45 minute walk, but that's about it... Don't expect anything WOW...
If you're a hippie, or an art freak, then by all means visit this....
I guess it's kinda cool to grab a blanket and laydown on the grass near the gigantic spoon with a cherry, or do the overused perspective photos... and what not...

Really, you have to go see the giant spoon at some time if you visit Minneapolis. Located just outside of downtown this garden is easy to find and park at. Lots of stuff to look at for about an hour or two. I try to take visitors here whenever they come to town to kill some time and get outside.

If you like art, sculptures and taking pictures, this is the place to be! and its all free. There is also a nice back drop of the city where the cherry and spoon sculpture is.

My group of friends were not impressed. I know art means different things to different people but we couldn't figure this art out. One piece was two metal boards sticking out of the ground to give you an example. We all said something like "get me out of here" at the same time.

Of course you will first visit the Walker Art Center next store, but no stop in Mpls is complete without a visit to the iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture. Take a walk over the bridge to Loring Park and have lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants facing the park on the North side.
