“Really royal!”
Reviewed September 20, 2009

We booked a sea view room which was on the second floor above the pool. View was breathtaking. The room was of average size, but the bed was huge. Bathroom was big and brand new. Our cleaning lady was the same every day - very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great - with lots of choice and champagne. The beach is clean with beautiful white sand (the hotel has a free private beach) and water is crystal clear. We rented a car for the whole stay and went to Myconos city to eat in the evenings. So I can say nothing about the hotel's restaurant. Went to spa once - quite relaxing experience. We had an early flight back so we asked to arrange a breakfast which was done. Stayed for 9 days& loved every minute of it.
Mind that the hotel stands on a steep heel, so it's a challenge to get to the beach on a hot sunny day (which was OK for us as we were willing to loose a few kilos). Also the hotel is away from the city, so if you want to get there you will defiantly be needing a car (we rented ours at the hotel).
This hotel is excellent if you want to relax away from the crowds and get a good service and as much sun&sea as you want.

This hotel was our choice for first class accomodations for our honeymoon to Greece, and we did not make a mistake...

The hotel has a huge lobby with 2 small shops in side and a large bar and seating area that is wall to wall marble, very impressive. Our first experience was meeting a gentleman by the name of Chrysakis Michel who happened to be at the front desk at the time we checked in, he made sure we had one of the best rooms at the highest point of the hotel for our honeymoon and was a pleasure to deal with, he went out of his way to give us directions to all the hot spots and points of interest on the island.

The hotel is a little far from the city but they have a bus shuttle service free of charge that runs every couple of hours from the hotel to the main square which is excellent, and the hotel has it's own private beach which is also beautiful.

The service by all the staff is excellent and well worth the stay in the hotel, Cvetan Miclvo is part of the service team and was very helpful with directions and information of the island.

The only area of improvement I would suggest is to update the rooms slightly, they are very nice but could use more modern touch to them to keep that hotel on the cutting edge, and constantly on top of the competition.

Not a 5 star, but if you don't mind sleeping on a super hard bed, and approximate service, the views and location on top of the best beach of the island, with a gigantic pool, can be a compensation.
Negatives: BED.
the towel rationing is simply ridiculous.
the air conditioning was noisy.
Far from Mykonos town

I have stayed at many hotels which are part of the chain, Leading Hotels of the World and have always been pleased. This is the first hotel where I have left with mixed feelings.

The rooms and lobby are nice but the hotels main selling points are its pools and beach. Each boasts beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. Shuttle to town is very convenient but keep in mind that it only runs at specific times. Elia is quite far from town (30 min) but it is worth making the trip to see the sunset in Little Venice and to wander the streets - everything comes alive around 11pm. Breakfast at the hotel is one of the best that I have seen from a buffet breakfast.

The major downside is the staff. They are by no means friendly. My LHW membership entitles me to free upgrades or late checkouts but neither could be accomodated. In addition, when we checked in, no one mentioned to us that we needed to arrange our free transfer to the port a day ahead of our departure. According to the staff a letter was supposed to be left in our room detailing what needed to be done. This never happened. So, when we went to arrange our transfer in the morning for a late afternoon boat we were told that they could not accomodate us. After much arguing with three different people the hotel ordered and paid for a taxi to the port. But, even this could not be pulled off without any kinks. The wrong luggage was packed into the taxi and the taxi driver told to drive us to the airport - a mistake i only realized once we were halfway there.

While these aren't reasons not to stay at this hotel, keep in mind that you will need to be on top of everything when you go because no one will go out of their way for you.

My husband and I stayed there for our short honeymoon holiday. Uppon arrival there was a luxury car waiting for us at the port (surprise!) and we were told by the driver that we were up graded to a private jacuzzi room,...........but in a different hotel!! It was a great offer on behalf of the hotel management, however since we had specifically choosen the property at the Elia beach we decided not to go for it. The only negative point we found in their offer was that the Royal Myconian Thalasso at Elia Beach (which we had booked) is a 5* LHW property and their jacuzzi room (up grade) would be in a city 4* hotel of the same chain, plus the fact that we were not told about this till we nearly reached at the hotel they had upgraded us to, thus it was when we only realised.

Anyway, the check in procedure at the Royal Myconian Thalasso was fast - the staff were all smiley and very polished. The room was neat and spacious (mind you the plasma TVs as per the website picts of the hotel are only available at the executive rooms and not at the standard ones), the bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletteries and all sort types of towels and bath robes, the balcony had a stunning view of the fantastic Aegean waters.

The breakfast was amazing, name something u can imagine having and you find it there, variety of pastries and jams, all sorts of bread and a huge sellection of teas. The pool was fantastic, we ended up spending most of our days there, breath taking views from the pool area. The staff were overall very friendly especially the lady at the small gift shop (ps ladies, dont buy any sandals from there, as you find them half price in Myconos Town shops), very chatty and mindful to attend to your requests and needs.

The only minor point was that as all luxury hotels food and drinks were sooooooo overpriced! You ask for a sandwich and you end up paying 20 eur, thats too much, but Myconos is an expensive island overall. It was a great experience, we are already planning our next stay there in September. Worth the money!

The rooms were fabulous each with its own rare view of the beach and surroundings of Myconos, Greece. The staff spoke clear English and made it their desire to accomodate each demand you may have. It was an added plus that a private shuttle was offered free of charge by the hotel. The hotel is about 2o minutes from town but the trade off of a private beach was worth it.
