The hotel is set in a stunning location on the island of Mykonos.
The accommodation is spacious and clean.
That's about it, the staff was not very friendly, apart from the reception staff and the lobby bar tender.
One of the waitresses/supervisors responsible for seating people at breakfast was very rude; there seemed to be a problem with window tables which overlooked the bay. More often than not they appeared to be allocated for what can only be described as the "favourite guests". This happened several times giving certain people preferential treatment.
The breakfast was less than expected for a 5* hotel, the fruit they provided was mainly out of a tin, apart from a few apples, nectarines & plums which were of very poor quality. The coffee was invariably tepid and not particularly fresh as was the tea. Some of the crockery seemed to be chipped, not something that is acceptable at a 5* resort! The sugar pot was often replenished after we were seated, which surely should have been done prior to being shown to the table.
The pool area was very appealing allowing reasonable space between the sun beds, unlike the beach area, which catered for 2 hotels, It was packed in like sardines and didn’t give any space or privacy, which is expected on a 'private beach'. To obtain beach towels, you had to collect them from the spa rather than from the pool area. Couldn't quite see the logic in that!
Although the thalasso pool was of a reasonable size, it was far too salty and many people found that a little difficult as it stung the eyes too much. This was its only downfall.
The food and drinks were very over priced; it was 80 Euros+ for 2 mains and 2 deserts. There is free transportation into the town of Mykonos throughout the day and night, which was a saviour as it cost far less to eat there than at the hotel. I can't quite understand why they would encourage people to dine out of the hotel (not a good marketing tool) and accommodate the free transportation. Surely any manager of a 5* hotel would try and make it more realistic so that more people would want to eat there. We used room service only once as a drink of sprite was 4 Euros and an unbelievable 6 Euros for room service!
The air-conseemed to be controlled remotely and was turned right down in the evening. They provided a turn down service, and at times it was turned off completely. It became such a problem, that the only alternative was to hide the remote control, thus allowing a cool room upon our return! An extreme length to have to go to!
Overall, I struggle to comprehend that this hotel is in the bracket of one of the 'leading hotels of the world' I have stayed at better 3* hotels than this. The hotel needs to dramatically improve on its attention to detail; simple things like complimentary bottles of water in the rooms upon arrival and replenished throughout the stay, crockery free of chips and stains, improvement on staff attitude, free WI-FI, food and drinks costs need to be more realistic, and less salt in the swimming pool.
