Owner description: You won't find a better vantage point from which to view the Sawtooth Mountains and Lake Superior's dramatic coastline. This aerial gondola is one of the North Shore's most popular attractions, taking you on a scenic ride to the top of Moose Mountain, rising 1,000 feet over Lake Superior. The gentle ride at treetop level is an experience not to be missed if you're visiting the North Shore! Stop at the Summit Chalet at Lutsen Mountains, a beautiful mountaintop chalet welcoming guests for gorgeous views, relaxation, or for lunch, snacks, and beverages. Inside and outside deck seating is available overlooking Lake Superior. The Summit Chalet at Lutsen Mountains also hosts our Summit Chalet weddings, our premier destination wedding facility. Enjoy the mountaintop hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and fresh air. The Mountain Tram makes Moose Mountain the most accessible year-round mountaintop destination in Mid-America.

We were here in early June 2011 on a weekday and had the place practically to ourselves. You purchase your tickets in the gift shop and then board the mountain tram "gondola" car (it's enclosed except for a few inches open above the door handle). Beautiful views of streams, foliage, deer, as you ascend up the moutain. At the top, you exit and there is a chalet-type restaurant with outdoor tables. The view of Lake Superior is outstanding. When you are ready, just present your return ticket to the gondola attendant for a leisurely ride back down the mountain. I think we paid about $12 each (adults). Well worth the time & money.

I just visited Lutsen mountain tram and it was some $11 and believe me the view is worth all the money you spend on the ride. It's AMAZING especially during the fall season. The color right now are at their peak... worth a trip.

The ride itself is thrilling.
But the view of the fall color bed from the view point at the top of the ride is marvellous.
Best spot to see fall colors .

The views while on this tram up the mountain were great. The view at the top was even better! We were there in early September. If you can plan your trip here during the fall colors, the view would be spectacular. I would recommend this to anyone visiting this area.
