This is our fourth stay at the lodge, we love that we can get there, park the car and spend the weekend. Skiing and snowshoeing is right off the property, the restaurant and pub are cosy, and with good food and deals. And the owners work the place and all of the staff do a good job. Keep in mind you are in the north woods so do not expect fancy. We stayed Jan 3-6, so even at -29 we were warm and happy.

We stayed at Cascade last weekend (mid December). We had a wonderful time! We all went snowshoeing for the first time and had a blast exploring all the trails and checking out the falls. Even our dog had a great time bounding through the snow! The cabin was very nice and made us all feel right at home. The staff was very kind and restaurant had great food. Overall, the relaxed atmosphere worry free atmosphere was exactly what we all needed for the weekend!

We stayed at Cascade Lodge last weekend (end of October 2013), and it was amazing! It was quiet, the cabin was clean, and the whirlpool and fireplace were just what we were looking for on our little weekend get away! To make it even better, our two dogs came with and hiked the surrounding area trails with us. It was refreshing and nice to have a place be so dog friendly and responsible all at once. It was a perfect weekend! We can't wait to visit again!!! THANK YOU!

Room Tip: All of the cabins are a little different, so look through the room descriptions before booking your...

We stayed at Cascade Lodge last weekend for the fourth time. It is located right across Hwy 61 from Lake Superior. There is little traffic noise, so you can hear the lake waves crashing against the shores all night. We have always stayed in room 204, and this time the bathroom had been completely updated. They give a discount to guests at the restaurant next door, and the food is good. The lodge is located in the middle of Cascade River State Park, so you can walk out the door to the pretty falls and the river that cascades into Lake Superior. Many hiking adventures abound in the area, and the scenery cannot be beat. The common rooms downstairs encourage groups to congregate to sit around the fire, plays their collection of board games, or play the grand piano. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is an older but unique lodge.

Room Tip: The lakeside rooms are the best.

We had a group of 9 women for 3 days of hiking in sept. It was a great experience and the accommodations ( especially cabin 12) were great. We loved the hiking, the spectacular waterfalls and awesome lakefront. The front porch of the lodge is a great place to relax and unwind. The staff recommended a spa for after hiking that was great too,

Room Tip: Cabin 12 and 14 are awesome

We had a motorcycle ride of 3 couples. Stayed in cabin 14. It was beautiful! The games room at the lodge kept us amused as we did our laundry. The Irish Pub has terrific food and drink at a great price. I want to go back there in the winter. Just beautiful.

Our stay from aug25-27th. We were in cabin 6. Fantastic view of lake from deck and living room. The bad the pic on line was not what was in the room. Very dated, furniture extremely worn, you sank in the couch when sat down, fairly dirty oil leak stains on carpet fron the heaters. The good the staff very helpful and attentive. We were ther for the current hot spell and with no ac it was challenging but staff came up with an extra fan that was a life saver. Would I recommend yes. has a camp feel to it. the newer updated cabins don't have the lake view. Restaurant next door fantastic, we ate almost all meals there. Thank you Helena and Rita for fantastic service

Thanks for your review of our property and I am glad the extra fan helped out! We generally do not need air conditioning on the North Shore as Lake Superior's cool breezes often create a perfect environment all summer long. 2 of our rooms do have air conditioning if you ever need it--Suite 104 and room 214. Just FYI--the mentioned "oil" on the floor is actually wax from a candle somebody left carelessly on the heater. Thanks again, Michael O'Phelan, Owner
