we have had the pleasure of staying at the highlands on more than one occassion. we have stayed in the simple hotel rooms and one time we splurged and got the small townhouse studio room with a fireplace and hot tub. that was awsome. there is a nice pool and plenty of activities planned by the hotel for you to choose from. being outdoors is the whole point of coming here so get out there and try something new. superior golf course is just up the highway and is a must do on our list. we tried the horseback riding that included a fantastic lunch prpared on the river banks. my wife was in heaven. in the fall, the tram ride up the hill is beautiful with the changing colours surrounding you. the lutsen area has a lot to offer and the highlands is a great jump off poin to access all of it. we highly recommend staying here if you get the chance. and if you like, maybe you can drive north and come visit our fair city as well.

Our stay was awesome! My family loved the pool and waterslide. We also loved the ping pong table the only con was that the internet went out on the second day and throughout our whole trip. There was a bunch of fun places nearby. There is really nice staff and beds that will make you go to sleep early in the evening and wake up late in the morning (Not a con). We loved the cow tails at the front desk. Tarasha Checked Us out she was really nice.

I don't think this resort was worth the money. We decided to spend a little more to have the ski in ski out accommodations. The slope to the lift was not what we thought it was. I know some of that had to do with Mother Nature, but the price of the condo was not adjusted based on the ski conditions. We were most dissatisfied with the room which had not been cleaned and when we arrived, dirty towels and bedding were found in our closet and they had to bring fresh. The beds were hard and the heating/cooling was impossible to adjust. The halls had such a strong chlorine smell as well and carpets were not clean!!!! We were not asked when we left and checked out how are stay was with put the icing on the cake for me. For paying 1000.00 dollars to stay for a weekend, I was very disappointed and expected much more. Next time, we will be spending the extra travel to go West!

The wooden floors will keep you up all night with the guests upstairs walikng across their floors, the requests from the staff to clean your room or for towels the next day, fall on deaf ears.

The location is awesome, the wait staff at the retaurant and bar are great, but if you want anything to do with your room accomodatins or flexibility, you will not get it.

Public accomodations are clean, but personal service is at a disconnect at this place. We went into this trip knowing it was a family outing so we were not expecting a "chamagne tour" of accommodations, but from the service level we received from the poperty once we checked in, it was far from lack-luster.

Again, their propery, location and wait staff are good, DO NOT expect any positives from a lodging perspective.

I have already had a discussion with my front desk staff to make sure they are following up on all guest requests. We don’t want anyone’s requests to go unanswered. I am pleased that the rest of your stay went well. I have forwarded your praise about the Moguls staff. We had stayed at Caribou Highlands some years before and remembered it fondly. We were not disappointed although it is beginning to show a little wear, here at the end of the season. Check-in was fast and without any hassle. The room was clean and pretty much ready. In fact, we could have used an extra dishwasher detergent and a lot more trash bags. We fixed all but one meal in our room so we were heavy users of the galley kitchen. The stove top was a bit problematic. The burners were way out of level so that i had to put a soda pop can under the handle of my omelet pan to keep it level for my omelets in the morning. It also took us a full 2 days to figure out that the thermostat on the wall did NOT control the heat! So the first two nights sleeping in the loft were like sleeping in a sauna! The highlands are very convenient for hitting the slopes. Just ski down to the lift chair and head up the mountain! We ate one night in Moguls and the food was good. It was a bit annoying that a table for 7 was ready but we had to wait until tables for 2 were ready so they could seat 2 couples who had registered ahead of us. We were told "you know, if they see us seat you, they might get mad that you got seated right away when they have been waiting". That made no sense. It happens all the time in every restaurant that I've ever eaten at! The hot tub was great and the pool was perfect for the kids. There were not, however, enough lounge chairs around the pool for all he adults who needed to be there to watch there kids.

Overall - 3.5/5.0 for excellence!
