This river running through the gorge and cascades is fantastic! Impossible to get an overall photo of the twists and turns it takes. Roaring full speed when we were there.
The first day we did the loop that follow is down to Hwy 61 and then back up the other side. Rocks to climb out on and look over the edge. Stairs, paths.. a variety of surfaces.
The Ranger at the main office on both days we were there was wonderfully enthusiastic about the park! Had a nice conversation with her.
The second day we visited we did the Lookout Mountain Loop. A bit muddy in areas but we were appropriately dressed. It was 85 degrees in the open area at the top but back in the 60's near the lake and river.
Excellent park to visit.

Great hike along the Cascade River gorge. You can go a short distance to see the spectacular falls or continue on longer for more great views. Could be dangerous for little ones so hold tight!

Another great walk full of falls and pools, picture perfect. Walk up on one site of river and come down on other side of river to see all angles.

Good hike on maintained trail-some wooden steps otherwise dirt trail. Within a short distance you're on a bridge with great views. You can go 1-5 miles further on maintained trails, climbing a bit in elevation for more views. Hold small kids by the hand and discourage climbing to the edge to see the river- a fall could be fatal here. I didn't see bathroom or other facilities at this location. The .cascade lodge is right here tho

It almost didn't look real--like something our of a movie set. The rushing water leaves you struck with the power of mother nature. I can't believe this is in Northern Minnesota. I almost want to give this a bad review so the area doesn't get hit with even more tourists--know what I mean folks.
