“Beautiful place to stop and take a break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

It was full of people, but still enough room to stand by the river and feel the rushing waters hit you. The kids also got in the river and got their feet wet, and threw some rocks.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

We are spoiled by our hiking in MT and WY. We hiked the Cascade Loop trail and the first two miles up the west side of the river are great. But after that it is very boring, not near the river and very little for views.

“One hike almost anyone can do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

You get a lot of beauty for very little hiking effort. The falls are less than 1/4 mile up a trail from the parking area. It's not that much farther to the cascades. And you can hike in to this one without having a state park sticker, which doesn't happen often on the North Shore. We camped here, too, and the sites are relatively large.

“Gorgeous, don't miss the hike!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

Start from Sawbill and walk down, not up. Or consider walking down toward Lake Superior where there is a nice beach (and camp ground). This is one of the best hikes in the Schroeder Tofte area. Be careful-lots of foot traffic as you drive to it on HW 61.

“Great trail along river”

Great state park with nice hiking trails along the river. Nice in winter as well for snowshoeing. Great state park with nice hiking trails along the river. Nice in winter as well for snowshoeing.
