We stay at the Stonemill Suites quite often and it is our favorite place to get away to. The owner and staff are the most personable --always making our stay the most enjoyable. We have stayed at other motels/b&b's in the area and Stonemill is always our top choice and very favorite. We stay all times of the year. There is alot to do in the area - we enjoy canoeing, theatre, biking, skiing and just relaxing!. We can't wait to stay again!

Hello,
First of all our trip was a wonderful break for my husband and our good friends.
We came to go cross county skiing, snow shoeing, shop, and eat at fun new spots.

We were saddened that so many places of business were closed! Lanesboro should get the word ou that it is a great place in the winter as well as the summer.
The trails were groomed and very peaceful. We had a hard time finding the right place for snowshoeing. Went to Eagles Ridge, but could not find the trail (made our own).

The Stone Mill suites was very quaint and quiet. WE met other guests in the lobby and enjoyed our conversation.
It is always easy to come up with new suggestions for someone elses business!
Here are a few:
First, it could be a little more welcoming when you arrive. Wine and cookies, etc in the lobby at 5pm. The place could use some re-decorating. The Theme rooms are a fun idea but outdated and the STUFF takes up room that could be a couple of cozy chairs and round table. I would suggest sticking with decor such as the old scale, and get rid of the country 90's stuff. I loved the local baskets and pottery at the store across the street. I would decorate with local art, and true antiques.
Furniture in the lobby could be cozier too! A gas fireplace that lets of heat would be nice.
Black and white photo's of the town from the past would be more fun to look at.
It would also be helpful to have local info provided at the desk. Good places to eat, snow shoe etc,
The guy that owned the Slant Ave store was very helpful. Told us about the new rest. in Harmony (Quarter to Quarter) very good!
Also the Bakery was charming and waitress very friendly.

After driving around town we all felt that the town was beautiful and does not receive enough attention in the winter due to so many B & B's and rest. closed down.
It could really use a couple Antique stores, it did look like one was coming in April.
We were surprised that there was not even a drug or grocery store in town. SAD!
WE do plan to come back next summer and enjoy the biking!
Thank you for being open in the winter!

One last thing, our friends did not have hot water the first night.

We are so glad that you found Stone Mill Hotel & Suites a place that you would continue to recommend a friend. We cannot apologize for the number of stores in Lanesboro open in January. It seems that the small business owners who occupy our storefronts see this month as their relaxation time. Please consider calling the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce for future travels as they keep all the hours each week for the business hours in town and are able to email this to you (800-944-2670). Lanesboro in the winter is a great place for outdoor winter activity, relaxation in its truest sense, and time spent with friends.

The rooms at Stone Mill Suites are themed to activities or industries in the area. We continually strive to update and provide new items in the rooms for our guests to enjoy. We appreciate your comments and will especially take into consideration and Wine and Cookies sort of reception at 5 pm along with the idea of a fireplace in our lobby.

You may not have been on second level, but we do have a hallway that is full of old photos from the time this was a working plant as well as old photos on large posters on each level that show the historical significance of the building.

We wanted to let you know that we will be sharing your review with the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce as they work on their strategic plan forward. They will appreciate your input.

Thank-you for your stay and review. We look forward to having you back again.
Colleen

Looking for a relaxing getaway, my wife and I stayed at Stone Mill Suites on the recommendation of a friend. We stayed in the Grain Room, which featured a small gas stove and decorations from the site's former milling days. It was exactly what we were looking for, a quiet, cozy place to be alone.

Since we were staying in the down season (1/7), they did not have breakfast on site but instead provided vouchers for the bakery across the street. We had a wonderful meal there before spending the day in the shops. We will be returning to Lanesboro in the summer for a wider range of activities (canoeing and biking), and will most likely stay at Stone Mill Suites again when we do so.

We enjoyed a lovely stay in the Farm Loft at Stone Mill Suites. We loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi. Most of the shops and restaurants were closed for the season, but this made it more mysterious, quiet and fun. Also, we enjoyed a massage at Prana Healing which is located conveniently below the Stone Mill Suites.

We have stayed at the Stone Mill many times over the past several years with large and small groups. On each occasion we have had excellent service and the management / staff has gone out of their way to meet and even anticipate every need we have.
The rooms each have a theme but not to the point of being overbearing. They are always spotless, the linens are fresh and replaced frequently. Love the use of the community products like the soaps and lotions as well as the fact they are environmently focused with the recycling bin and use of glass verses paper products.

The enthusiasm and warmth of the staff is very apparent from the time the telephone is answered to answering your personal inquiries. I have stayed at other Inns in Lanesboro; however, no one else shares the enthusilam in their speech. You know it is in depth.

Very eco-frilendly. The interor of the structure ils very modern with the type of plumbing fixtures, door hardware and immaculate cleanliness. The housekeeping rules are so strict that the stuffed animals in the room dare not move or speak. Butl, they ate my punch card (certilfiying my attendance for two evenings) and the staff does not seem to know anything about it).
