I decided to give this place a try based on the novelty factor. It claims to be America's first underground motel. The folks who run this motel are very nice, and the price was only $39 +tax.
The motel was built around 1982, and it shows in the decor. The rooms have been redecorated, in a wildly tasteless paint scheme. Mine definitely called the '80s to mind with yellow walls highlighted with random strips of bright red. The room was very large, and clean. Being underground, it was quite cozy, even on a bitterly cold night. The floors are plywood on a frame, so walking around does make some noise.
The bathroom was clean, and despite the older fixtures, everything was in good repair. There is free wireless, and a small free breakfast in the morning.
