Very nice place to stay, if you are looking for something clean and quiet at a cheap price. Gas station/DQ/Diner in the parking lot, so very handy for some cheap food and supplies. Nice staff, and very unique concept. It seemed very safe and cozy in our "underground" room.
However, it was definitely a small room, with a small old TV and the cable was fuzzy. There was no bath tub, just a stand up shower, although it was very clean for how old it looks. And finally, i really hope they get softer beds. Ours was pretty darn stiff. Also, they need 4 pillows on the 1 bed rooms. Me and the wife need a couple pillows each!
All in all, I would definitely recommend staying here, just to say you did it. It was fun for a night, and its always good to support a local business.

I stayed here one night in July, 2012. It is an American owned Mom & Pop place and they have updated it recently. My room was very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. My queen bed was a pillow-top. They are very friendly. They offered a breakfast with rolls, toast, cereal, oatmeal, juice and coffee. All of this with my Senior discount was a total of $43.00 (that includes the tax). Wow! You will not find that price too often! Call ahead to reserve as it is a small place and they fill up during the summer.

Found this mom-and-pop motel on the web. What a delightful facility, run by a great husband-and-wife team. The motel is really built into a small, man-made hill and the rooms are really underground (at least the lower half of each room). Our room included two beds (one with a pillow top cushion and the other without), frig, microwave, wif-fi, cable TV, and shower only (no tun). The sink was outside the bathroom. The room was large and spacious. In the lobby: sweet rolls, coffee and ice ($1.50 per bag). It also turned out to be a great place, because it's right across the street from a Chrysler dealership, which we ended up visiting to replace a car battery. Also in the same parking lot is a DQ/convenience store/gas station and a Denny's-type restaurant (which was very good). The folks were very friendly - we chatted and watched the thunderstorm from the motel doorway. As for our car trouble, they were very accommodating and were ready to allow us to stay longer, if necessary. One of my all-time favorite mom-and-pop motels. Highly recommended.

We stayed here 2 nights and the motel is clean but very dated. Also, the motel is for sale. Beds are not comfortable unless you prefer to roll to the middle...even then.

I decided to give this place a try based on the novelty factor. It claims to be America's first underground motel. The folks who run this motel are very nice, and the price was only $39 +tax.
The motel was built around 1982, and it shows in the decor. The rooms have been redecorated, in a wildly tasteless paint scheme. Mine definitely called the '80s to mind with yellow walls highlighted with random strips of bright red. The room was very large, and clean. Being underground, it was quite cozy, even on a bitterly cold night. The floors are plywood on a frame, so walking around does make some noise.
The bathroom was clean, and despite the older fixtures, everything was in good repair. There is free wireless, and a small free breakfast in the morning.
