If you are camping at Mil Lacs, nice weather is really crucial. We went to Mil Lacs for a one night camp over in September of 2013. Although sunny, the winds were sustained 30MPH with gusts up to 50. Temps in the 60's quickly felt like 40 on the wind swept lake. Our tent site was directly adjacent to the water, so the views were spectacular, but the tent set up was difficult at best with the heavy winds. The winds continued strong throughout the night and into the next day. It was overcast and misting and the seas were around 2-4 feet - not ideal if you have a small boat. We gave it our best and fished most the morning before giving up. No bites. After packing up we took a walk along the beach and the sun broke through and quickly started warming things up. The winds also decreased making the afternoon beautiful. However, we were already packed and heading home. Just our luck.
