I've taken my g'children here twice and they loved it! Lots of fun, a huge view of the mine, and a great walkway with various pieces of mining equipment and tools. Very educational! They were able to see huge machines actually working, with a gift shop they could browse through! Hope to go back one day!

This is a great place to visit. AND, it's free. It is very child friendly with items where the kids can climb and enter. There is a viewing area for the large open pit mine. There is also a gift shop on-site and proceeds help fund the site.

This was a great find. I thought it would be a bummer, not very interesting. But by my surprise it was lots of fun. They have a large truck and the scoops they actually use are there to get in or on top of. My nephew 5 years old and my 10 month old daughter went along. It was a good view out into the pit that they are always working on. Seeing the large and small trucks side by side was pretty neat. They have a little shop there with some history. The town of Hibbing was also worth the trip. Go explore the old building (i think the town hall). Good to go with couple, friends, family, kids, etc. The only thing that was lacking is that we wanted to get to the pits and we weren't sure if we could and didn't have time to stay anyways.

Fabulously interesting view of a working iron ore mine, in use for well over 100 years and expects to be going strong for another 100 to 200 years. Free visits to one of the world's largest open pit mines and a trail past some of the gargantuan pieces of mining equipment still in use here and in the shale oil sands in Canada. Volunteer guide and DVD presentation add to the understanding of the process.
