“Great hotel grill”
Reviewed March 2, 2011

This is a cozy bar and restaurant in the Timberlake Lodge, with a pleasant bar area and comfy seating. We shared the Winter spinach salad, which was delicious, and BBQ beef brisket sandwich. The brisket was tender and spicy-sweet -- as good as it gets. Service was excellent.

Food is wonderful compared to the other restaurants in the area, better tasting and cheaper price compared to the other fine dining restaurants in the area. Not very much seating though. Servers are great. They actually come back to the table to check on you.

“Skip it!”
Reviewed November 1, 2010

Skip the 17th Street Grill.
Your choices for Grand Rapids are extremely thin, but realize that, and you're two steps ahead of the game. Two in our party, I ordered the rib eye and my friend ordered the tuscan chicken pasta. Neither were terrible, but we had a better meal for a fair price the night before at Applebee's.
The $22 ribeye was 1/2 inch thick and full of gristle--beyond marbling--full of gristle.
My companion had the $17 Tuscan Pasta with chicken--again--completely mediocre.

We started with the Minnesota Wild Cakes--highly touted by our hostess and our server. It was a deep fried highly forgettable Minnesota version of a crab cake. Again-skip it.

Your options in Grand Rapids are poor, so don't make the mistake of choosing an expensive restaurant thinking you're going to find a high end meal here. And don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Applebee's-- I would never choose it with better options, but with poor choices, you're better off going with consistency.

I actually went into the evening with high hopes, but it was very disappointing.
