“Worth it!”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

The Forest History Center is a fascinating walk through the area's logging history. The guides told wonderful stories as we walked through the bunkhouse, outhouse, kitchen/dining hall, smithy, clerk's office and barns. The work horses were gorgeous - a Percheron team and a matched set of Belgians. The visitor's center had a really well-done multi-media movie about the great fire of 1918 that destroyed most of Cloquet. I would definitely visit again!

“A Great History Experience”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

We have visited several times since the beginning and it only gets better with time. A genuine interpretation of the tall timber days in Northern Minnesota.

“Great history here!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Having come from a family of Great Northwoods Loggers (my grandfather and great-grandfather were "river pigs", aka "river rats") on the Bigfork River, the Forest History Center provides an excellent look into the past for anyone interested in the legacy of Northern Minnesota. I enjoyed spending time in the Cook Shack, the cabins, and checking out the Wannigan. It really brings to life what life must have been like with few comforts and hard work. Our ancestors were a very tough breed.

“Well worth a stop”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

This is a great interactive experience for families. It's run by the Minnesota Historical Society and is very well put together. We were greeted on the patio by a game of Tree Ring Jeopardy which the kids loved! The exhibits inside are very educational in a fun way. Outside you walk along the wooded path to a replica logging camp. There are real horses and people dressed in period costume in a kitchen, bunkhouse, smith shop, etc.. You can talk to them and ask questions.

It's a lot to take in and worth a couple of hours.

“Loved It!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We spent over 3 hours touring the logging camp. We truly enjoyed visiting with the "cast of characters" and learning about life in a logging camp. They have done such a tremendous job in making this interesting and pleasant. Would definitely recommend.
