Impressive falls, lovely visitor center and paved pathway/boardwalk to the falls. My mother (88 years young avid walker) were up on the shore a few days ago enjoying the autumn colors and fresh air. We enjoyed the fresh air and sun after a gentle rain - "mom" called it "paradise." A gentle walk...enjoy the interpretive markers along the way and sense and appreciate...

If you are this far north, take the time to visit the High Falls. It is about a half mile walk on an easy trail so see a beautiful site. There are areas with steps however to get to the viewing platforms.

Another place we have visited more than once, a must see if you are at the North Shore. Beautiful, amazing to watch, unbelievable amount of water.

We drove up the North Shore all the way to the border. The High Falls is in the Grand Portage
state park. They built a new visitor center there in 2010. We had been there in 2006. It is a half
mile walk to the falls. The trail is an easy paved and part boardwalk trail. There are some benches to stop and rest on if needed. The falls is beautiful and well worth the walk. The
weather was perfect when we were there and the walk was very pleasant through the woods.

This waterfall is worth the drive up the north shore. We were there a few days after they had several inches of rain so the water levels were pretty high, but it made the falls even more impressive. The walk to the falls is easy on a paved trail. We also took the trail to the lower falls which is much more rugged and longer than the sign says it is. The lower falls are not nearly as impressive but still a good falls. Just make sure you take enough water on the lower falls hike if you try it as it is steep in places.
