We were on a road trip around Lake Superior, (Great Trip!). We stayed at the nearby lodge and casino the night before and got an early start. The park is on the Pigeon River that separates the US and Canada.
There are some nice trails with great natural scenery. The park is very well maintained and the trails are marked and maintained as well. The main trail leads to a 120 foot high waterfall. The views are great! Seeing the water rushing through the gorge, and watching the waterfall as you take it all in from the trail.
This State Park is very natural and scenic, and we spent some time there enjoying the sights, before hitting the road again for our next destination.

We drove up on a Friday and it was raining and 46 degrees, brrr. Right before the border is the park that looks like a rest area. We walked in and talked to the information man who was very helpful. We walked out the back of the building and it's about a half mile until you get to the waterfalls on a very nice trail. This trail is very friendly to anyone and even has a bathroom close to the High Falls. The falls were roaring as they had several inches of rain recently and view was amazing. Well worth the trip. FYI there is no cell coverage even close and the information man said if you get a signal it's likely from Canada. Enjoy

There was no cost for entering this park. It was really surprising. We had a day pass from another park but it wouldn't have mattered if we didn't. The high falls were spectacular and a very easy walk along wide asphalt and wooden stairs. If you're up to the hike though I'd go to the middle falls and do the loop. I'd recommend taking the left fork and going around that way. If the timing is right bring your lunch and sit out on the rocks that go right out into the little rapids at the top of the middle falls. We were very lucky with bugs, there were hardly any. We'd been warned about black flies and the state bird of Minnesota - the mosquito, but they weren't bad at all. Our only complaint is that calling these "trails" is an overstatement. More like glorified deer tracks, overgrown in spots, and very muddy in others. Of course maybe that's why we didn't see another living soul on the trail.

This is right before the Canada boarder (It says it's a rest stop) There is bathroom and a visitor center. It is only a 1/2 mile walk to the falls. Very easy.

Didn't know this was even in Minnesota! A well-kept secret! Beautiful scenery and the waterfall is a short hike from the visitor center.
