“Smelly, shabby and dirty - resort area ok”
Reviewed September 14, 2009

We stayed this past weekend at Peter's and were very disappointed. We chose Peter's because of the close location to a family wedding we were attending and we needed a place that could sleep nine family members. We arrived late Friday and were greeted with musty smells and sand on the carpets and floors as if the place had not been cleaned since the last visitors. While we had enough space for our group (plenty of beds and bathrooms), the bedding definitely could be updated. The next morning we noticed lots of spiders and wallpaper falling off the walls in every room. The whole place needed updating. The hot water ran out after the second shower so the rest of us had very cold showers. The cleaning people stopped by and we asked them to come back at noon (as all of us were getting ready to go to the wedding). They said they were understaffed (probably explains the dirtiness of everything) and that they wouldn't be able to clean, make beds or drop off fresh towels. We would have been ok with this had we not been told that we would need to pay 6% gratuity for cleaning! When we brought up our concerns with the "owner" the next day nothing was done to discount our room or provide us with an incentive to come back another time for a better experience. Considering the cost of staying here and the condition the place is in, we will not stay here again when we are back for family functions.

I have been coming to Peters Sunset Beach annually for the past 13 years! I have to say each year it is the highlight of my summer. There is typically 12-16 of us guys that sign up for their sportsmans package of all you can Golf, 2 nights stay, 2 breakfasts' and 2 suppers all for under $300! The course in my opinion is one of the best kept secrets in Minnesota, its absolutely gorgeous and if you play during the week you hardly ever run into somone else on the course. The food there is also one of my favorite things about coming, They always have well portioned and delicious dinners, and the waitresses are always very pleasant and like to have a good time with us! I Highly recommend comming here with a group of your buddies for a golf retreat, it has been a tradition with the core 12 of us for 13 years and will continue to be for many more years to come! ps also a good place for families as there are a million things your kids can do to keep them busy, tennis, basketball, ping pong, and the beautiful lake minnewaska! The only bad thing i can say is the rooms could use updating, but its really not a bother to any of us as we are in our rooms only to sleep, shower, and change, the rest of the day we are out on the course or playing cards out on the patio.

We appreciate the nice comments about the golfing here at the resort. This June the golf course is in maybe the best condition ever. Its great to have your golf group coming here.

A great place for adults to relax, while the kids have fun. Two tramps on the water and a floating mat to play on equals great fun for the kids (and adults). The swimming area is shallow and safe. There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, racquetball, shuffle board, ping pong, and a playground.

For the parents, an excellent golf course. This is one of the best features of the resort. A challenging and scenic course, at reasonable prices. Great food served at the resort, or you can cook your own on grills. In the evening spots for camp fires.
They also have pontoon boats for rent. In addition there are huge cabins that can be rented for re-unions.

We selected Cottage #106 because it was presented as a beachfront cottage -- the road running in front of the cottage was not apparent on the Web site. As we were traveling with two little ones, we wanted easy access to the beach. Upon arrival, we saw the road and proceeded to encounter other disappointments like the ants in the kitchen and cramped bathroom. On a positive note: the view of the lake is lovely, breath-taking, really. I'd visit the area again in a heart beat but skip Peter's next time.
