Spirit Cove Lodge B&B-Alexandria
Ranked #1 of 1 Garfield B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 27, 2013

My wife and I were visiting family in the area. We were tired of staying in the local motels and thought we would look for an alternative. What a "Rare Find". It was a very pleasant place to stay being very quiet and relaxing. As for the breakfasts they were superb. The location was perfect for us and we loved being out of town in the country. We now live in Washington State but when we come back home to visit family this will be our first choice as a place to stay. An added bonus was that one day we saw over a dozen wild turkeys.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked good to us.

We visited with another couple—the guys were on a long-distance bike ride on the Central Lakes/Wobegon Bike Trail. Spirit Cove is conveniently located just a half mile off the bike trail and close to Alexandria. The girls explored the thrift stores and antique stores in Alexandria (approx. 7 mi. away) as well as the other small towns along the way. The gals had stayed at B&B’s before, but neither of our husbands had—this was perfect because it was more like a lodge setting. The lodge is tucked back in a grove of trees and all the rooms overlook a pond/lake. Loved the decks out back and there’s a fire pit, too. Needless to say, our bikers were exhausted and roasted marshmellows were not to be for us ;-) . We prefer a quieter more secluded place to stay and Spirit Cove fit the bill. Breakfast was excellent. When you consider the accommodations and breakfast, Spirit Cove’s price point is very reasonable. The grounds, the lodge and our rooms were pristine. We’ll definitely recommend to family and friends! Craig and Janet were the perfect hosts as well—accessible if needed, but respected our privacy at the same time.

Room Tip: From what I could tell, every room is lovely. All overlook the grounds so the chance to see nature...

We patiently waited for this B&B to open...and it was well worth it!! A beautiful lodge in the country with walking trails and gorgeous views. It is just a short distance to the bike trails and a few miles from Alexandria...which has fun shopping and great restaurants. We have stayed in many B&Bs and Craig and Janet are the perfect hosts...there if you need them, great advice on the area but allowing you the space to feel like you really are in your own retreat. They served wonderful breakfasts, the space is meticulously clean and comfortable...we loved the lodge feel and even had our own patio. They have a fire pit, pond, great place for bird & wild life watching & photographing! Alexandria has been a great get-away for us through out the years and now have found our "home away from home". We will definitely be back!!
