This hotel seemed very new and very clean, but the walls are so poorly insulated that it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. We traveled w/my daughter's gymnastic team and had an early meet the next day, so I was disappointed to overhear every single word from the people next door, ALL night long! Even when they opened and closed drawers, it sounded like they were in our room. This was not yelling or slamming things--just even-toned conversation, so I couldn't really complain for them to be quieter. Also, the overnight clerk made an error on my checkcard but told me to call on Monday (this was a Saturday) so the manager could help me because she was not trained on how to reverse/correct charges.
There were many positive aspects (the pool, the continental breakfast and wonderful woman who served/stocked the breakfast, the decor) but since the "sleep experience" is such a major part of any hotel stay, I have to give a much lower rating. I'm not sure of any way they could correct this poorly-built hotel.

Our hockey team recently stayed at the Grandstay during a tournament at Shattuck St. Mary's prep shcool. I believe this is the newest hotel in town, and I would definately stay again! From the minute we checked in, to the time we checked out, the staff was fabulous. They helped us with anything we needed, allowed us to eat evening team meals in their breakfast area, and greeted us with a smile everytime we came and went. Our team travels without parents (just coaches and a couple chaperones) so it's important that all our rooms are close together. I was so pleased that the hotel was able to get all our rooms on the same floor and most right next to each other. The rooms were great, they have full kitchens, and all have sofa beds so you can sleep 3 to a room (we put 2 kids in a king bed), which cuts down on costs. Plenty of room for the kids to spread out, and lots of pillows on a comfy bed. The rooms were very modern with granite countertops in kitchen and bath, and nicely decorated. internet connection was very good anytime I was using it (and free!). Complimentary breakfast in the morning was a great bonus. Some hot items each day (biscuits/gravy or sausage and egg sandwiches), waffles, hardboiled eggs, along with the usual continental items. They kept it very well stocked each day, and the staff was very nice. The pool area was spacious and clean, they also had a small game room for the boys to play during their off time, and a convenient pantry where they could buy soda, gaterade, water, misc. food items, or forgotten toiletries. The only thing I noticed was, being so close to the highway, you do get some of that noise thru the night, but i was in a room on the very end (where the highway was) so that may not be a factor somewhere else in the hotel. All in all we had a great experience at this hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

Went for a hockey tournament and found this was close to the rink.
The room was very clean and well kept. The size of the rooms was plenty big (std)
The breakfast had plenty to choose from. Fruit looked good and bakery items were fresh.
Comfortable beds with plenty of pillows/blankets. (clean!!)
Loved having the coffee choices available at all times.

We booked four rooms at this hotel for my daughter's graduation from St. Olaf in Northfield because there was nothing available there. All in our party of ages 79 down to 6 enjoyed the stay. The hotel was immaculately clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were really nice. A very comfortable king-sized bed in one room with a flat-screen t.v. and a full-sized sofa-sleeper in the main room with another flat-screened t.v. Full refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, dishes, pans, etc. Two pools included a smaller pool with sloped entrance. Hot tub, adjoining game room, patio with playground equipment and small mini-golf green. They even had a pantry with honor system snacks, etc offered. We were a short distance from Northfield which made it easy to go back and forth for events. I would definitely stay there again. Best night's sleep I'd had in two weeks!

We have stayed here two times in the past 8 months, visiting our son at St. Olaf in Northfield. Both times, we were in one of the suites (inexpensive for what you get). There is a hot tub in the living/sitting area, and a kitchen. It was very quiet both times we stayed here. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms have an above average feel to the furnishings. Very nice place to stay, not too expensive. Very clean.

We have staying at this hotel a handful of times since they opened in summer, 2009. It is set-up like a Marriott Residence Inn with a separate bedroom, living room and small kitchen. Complimentary breakfast is good (boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, breads, cereal, etc. with juices and coffee). Front desk and management staff are exceptionally nice and helpful - Candace and Kate are fantastic!

They have a fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical and bike; no weights, but does the trick when you need a workout. Rooms are spacious enough for 3 people, four gets a little tight, but they do have two bedroom suites. Biggest drawback to the hotel is that the maid service is really bad. They do a poor job cleaning this nice, new property and we worry this will cause the property to deteriorate. Only other problem is with the bed pillows - they are very thick and we've heard several guests complain about them. We now bring our own pillows.

We stay at this property about every month to 45 days and would not stay anywhere else in Faribault. It is located about 5 min. from Shattuck St. Mary's and about 45 min. from MSP airport.

This is a brand new suites style facility, right off of I-35. The feel is country comfortable, relaxed and friendly. My wife and I had a king suite which was spacious and clean. It seemed to be favored by older travelers from the look of people at breakfast. The breakfast was adequate, hot egg patties and hot sausage, the rest the usual continental fare. Overall we agreed we would come back to the Grandstay when we are in the area visiting our daughter at college.
