We always stop by the Channel Inn when we're in Fairmont, which is probably once every three months or so. The Channel Inn is located right on Hall Lake and the water appears to nearly lap at the window--you could reach out and touch it! It's a small place, decked out Northwoods style with exposed logs and woodwork, big windows, and lots of beer signs. Half of the establishment is bar, while the other half is table seating for the restaurant. It's a family-friendly restaurant and we've taken my husband's parents and our kids there for burgers and fries. And burgers and fries are the heart of the menu. I really enjoy the Channel Inn burger with bacon and a fried egg--delish! They also have Cattlemen's sauce on the table in a squeeze bottle--along with the catsup and mustard bottles--and it's super on the Channel Inn's fries! FYI, fries are ala carte, they don't come with the meal. Also, don't expect to pay with a debit or credit card. Cash or local checks only. There is an ATM on site if you need it.

We have had burgers here several times. It is a very friendly atmosphere. And the sweer burger is my favorite. Their burgers are cooked thouroughly and never get dried out. And be sure to try their cattlemans sauce!

Nice little place on the lake. When I say ON the lake, that's what I mean. Up north cabin style atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. Had the Channel Inn burger (with the egg) and it was good. Nothing spectacular but good. Prices were about normal. Most of the parking is across the street at another business. Worth the trip off the interstate.

We arrived at the Channel Inn on Friday night at 6 pm with a group of 7. One group member had called earlier to get reservations and was told we didn't need them. This was not good advice. We were able to snag a table that had been emptied but not actually cleaned. The service was as fast as they could go given the fact that they were packed with people and not much room to maneuver. The burgers were good, and the Rueben balls appetizer was great. The fries and onion rings were your average frozen variety. We were advised by our local friends to order a burger as the other menu choices were unremarkable. We did get drink refills, but a bit late in the game. Overall, not impressive but not bad. They do have a dock so if you are on one of Fairmont's 5 lakes and want something to eat, this would be a good choice.

If you are in Fairmont you must go by for a cheeseburger or chicken strips or fried shrimp! The patio on Hall Lake has been expanded and has huge umbrellas over the table and the atmosphere is great. Inside renovated too but there is only so much you can do to that structure - eat outside on the lake!
