“Great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

We have eaten at the Burnside Lodge resturant three times now and are never disappointed. The food is amazing, great wine list and the staff are very friendly. While there have a cocktail in their bar, the mixologist has some very tasty drinks.

“Terrific...classic northern Minnesota lake lodge experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

Great ambiance, great service, great food...and a fair price for this nice collection. The reputation lived up to itself. We had the pan fired walleye.

“Classic 'On Golden Pond' Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

The setting is beautiful-overlooking the pristine Burntside Lake. The old log lodge, where the restaurant and bar are housed, has been well maintained. The family who owns and runs the lodge are lovely.

Sitting at the bar tables is nice with great views of the lake and less formal than the dining room.

The food is very good. The lobster roll appetizer is divine. All the bread, dessert and pastries are made on site by the daughter of the owners. Save room for the decedent desserts, including the homemade sorbets.

"Up North" dining has a bad reputation. Burntside Lodge proves there can be great food up north.

“Best scones I have ever had.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

Breakfast scones and coffee starting at 7 AM. You can sit by the lake if it isn't too cold. Dinners here are amazing, but the dining room has no AC. Do not go too early on a hot summer day. Be prepared to ignore the price at the end of dinner. Just remember how good the food tasted. Leave room for desert.

“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

Tip- Go to the bar at 5:30 pm when they open and grab a sandwich. In the morning - the scones are delicious.

The waitress did not know the wine list--- considering this is rated well by wine enthusiast- that was surprising. When I asked her about a particular wine she leaned over my shoulder and started to read the description in the menu.....not so good. I understand that not all servers know their wines but at least know the categories and refer the question to a person who does know the wine!

The meal was good and service, except for wine knowledge was good as well.
