“We got this”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

Alright, alright, alright. This trip was absolutely amazing. It consisted of many laughs and much excitement. Staff were very friendly, supportive and our tour guide, Theo rocked. The dogs were friendly and the view was incredible. Being dragged and tipped over a number of times only made the ride more fun. Please note the above is due to an operator error, no fault of the pups. Looking forward to more practice. Thanks for the great experience.

“Incredible Experience”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

First time was yesterday!! Didn't know what to expect but it was MORE! More adventure, more excitement, more breathtaking views of the trails; more laughs, more everything! Our guide Theo was more then amazing. She gave us great instruction and then let us do some experiential learning! Through the day she periodically stopped to let us know what was ahead and how we should drive it. She was warm and friendly, smiled even when we came to a stop with 5 dogs instead of 6 (we didn't lose one but... too much to explain). It was a gorgeous day; peaceful, beautiful, quiet with the sled running through huge white pine forests under blue skies and bright sunshine! Fabulous!

“An Amazing Adventure!”
Reviewed March 22, 2014 via mobile

White Wilderness kennel is about a 45 minutes from downtown Ely. It's a beautiful drive in Lake Superior National Forest. Note: if it's snowing heavily, it could be ( and was for us with no 4x4) very tough to get out of the kennel due to the steep hill. Bring kitty liter and tow rope just in case. Cellphone use is null in the forest and no way to call for a tow. Kind fellow mushers coming up behind us helped push us out.

The kennel has over 100 beautiful, friendly, well-cared for Alaskan Huskies just foaming at the mouth to go for a run. You will be instructed on the sled, handling the dogs and how to harness the dogs to the sled.

The drive itself is quite exhilarating. Try to get a sled in the front of the line so you wouldn't be stuck behind sometimes slower teams that will have you on the brake often. There are times that are so peacefully and easy to drive the team. Other times, going downhill can be scary. One person will drive the sled while the other person will ride facing front. You can zip yourself up to keep warm and the snow off you and your gear. They supplied a sleeping bag to help keep you warm in the sled.

Don't be surprised to find yourself out of the sled. Out of the four of us, three of us did with the four barely staying on at one point.

Our family recommends bringing chemical warmers for toes and fingers, ski mask for face and a backpack to keep your extra gear in. DON'T drink lots of coffee before heading out! There is no time for potty breaks and once you get to the lake for your lunch, there really is no bathroom or port-a-potty to use. Lunch is brats or Boca burgers, trail mix. Granola bars and homemade chocolate chip cookies that Peter's (the owner) wife made. Really hit the spot.

We highly recommend this adventure. Just know that it can be challenging at times but you'll come away with awesome stories to tell. We will be doing it again.

“Why did I wait so long to try this?........ When can I go again?!”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

A beautiful sunny day in Northern Minnesota: blue sky; perfect temps; great snow; extremely skilled guides; incredible dogs; 3 hours of driving the sled; hot lunch (gluten free diet request) on the lake; 3 hours to enjoy the ride in the basket of the sled. PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
