“Lovely evening”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

We had a reservation but they were polite about seating us before they knew we had one. They graciously offered a choice of inside or outside. It was on the early side on a sat night. We had a lovely waitress named Sunny who was perfect. She was knowledgeable and effecient without pressuring us. In fact, all the staff seemed very attentive and gracious. We ordered some wine and asked for samples to be sure. They happily delivered 3 samples for us to try before ordering, which I always appreciate. I always ask for one and some places don't like it or only allow one. They accommodated us with all out requests. We didn't have an appetizer but the 2 salads we ordered were very good: the pear walnut and the cesear. One of us tried the braised short ribs which he really liked. One of us had the eggplant parmigiano which looked beautiful and was a healthy (large) serving. One of us had the sausage ravioli which was good. One of us had the split chicken with risotto. We all tried the choices. The ravioli was served in a white sauce which some liked, others hoped for red. The sausage was salty. The white sauce was very good. The short ribs were delicious but not much meat. The noodles were aldente and perfect. The split chicken was so salty it was hard to eat. Everyone agreed. The risotto was tasty but the mushrooms looked sad and tired and came on the side, an after thought to the mushroom and spinach risotto. There was also a side spinach which was good but not big enough to split, as suggested. The butterscotch budino was amazing! We had a great time and would return.

“Go for the short ribs”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

I like this restaurant, and love their balsamic glazed short ribs ! Fall-off-the-bone tender, and wonderful accompanying balasamic sauce and pasta. Definitely my favorite menu item and worth the trip. Nice outdoor eating area, although it is near a busy highway (but nicely secluded by an attractive hedge).

“Great food and service”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

I have eaten here on two occasions: #1 a business lunch with colleagues; #2 a nice dinner with my in-laws.

During the business lunch we sat indoors and everyone felt nervous coming in because of the white tablecloths and overall upscale impression of the restaurant. The lunch menu was a little higher priced than many lunch menus, however the quality of food served did seem commensurate with the pricing. Service was very attentive. I had the lunch portion of the gnocchi and it was very good - the complimentary bread was also delicious.

During the dinner with my in-laws we initially hoped to sit on the Campiello patio and enjoy the beautiful evening. However upon being seated at our table next to their hedge we felt overcome by gnats and requested to be reseated indoors; this was accommodated with minimal confusion. Our server was very experienced and had many recommendations, plus helpful information as we ordered. As appetizers we shared the Sicilian Meatballs and the Bacon, Sweet Onion, Burrata pizza: both excellent and delicious options. Our complimentary bread basket contained two really well-baked types of bread - soft and chewy innards with appropriately crusty edges.

The entrees we experienced included the short ribs with spaghetti, the penne with chicken and artichokes, and the braised rabbit. The short ribs were extremely tender. The penne was fresh-made, flavorful, and refreshing - although it was sort of artichoke overload.

Although we were all full and enjoying the IPA and Arnies wine recommended by our server, somehow we pushed on to dessert. We all tried different things: butterscotch budino, lemon rum cassata, and a seasonal limoncello tiramisu. (All delicious).

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

Every time we are in Minneapolis we make this restaurant one of our choices for dinner. The first time we visited here many years ago my husband ordered their famous short ribs and I ordered their seasonal pumpkin ravioli. Both were delicious but once I tasted the short ribs I knew I would be hooked. And so for the next 3 visits to Minneapolus, that is what I have ordered. Also, the staff is attentive and very friendly. It's not too far from the city and definitely worth the short trip.

“Suburban oasis.”
Reviewed May 21, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

After being hounded by friends to go check this restaurant out, my husband and I finally went. It's a great suburban oasis, but if you are used to downtown Minneapolis restaurants, then stay clear of this place. The food was OK, the service was OK, the ambience was OK, the prices were OK...but that's just it...it was just OK. It was a really nice and upscale suburban Olive Garden.
