We hadn't read any reviews, but had walked past it many times and we finally dropped in on a Friday night. Couldn't believe there was no wait, since the parking was full. Then walking to our table, we saw how deceptively huge the place is.
I'm a sucker for great service - not something that happens all that often - and sometimes it comes off artificially trolling for a bigger tip. I thought our waitress was special - professional, attentive, never pushy, helpful, sincere - great job, Cherie! Now, reading the reviews, it sounds like they have set a very high standard throughout their staff. Well done!
The food was very good, starting with the bread with olive oil/parmesan - but just try to leave room.
We both had half orders of the pasta - and ordered salads to go with. My wife had the spinach salad, I had the Messina (similar to a Greek salad). Both were tremendous - and very large - we could have split them. I can't envision how big an entree salad would have been. By the time the pasta came, we were stuffed with great food and had to take some home. Really nice they had the 1/2 order option.
Costs...Drinks were the typically high $5.50 for their house cianti and the same for the pint of Goose Island. Both hit the spot though. The half orders of pasta were $10 each, and the salads ran $6-6.50.
The atmosphere was quite nice - separate room areas make it seem more intimate. And the food came hot and nicely done.
Did I mention the tremendous service? Man, I like that.
This will have to be our new "go to" place, can't wait to let our friends know about it.
