“Magnificent - and no problems seeing the lake!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2011

We've travelled extensively around the US, and in particular, the midwest. Duluth is a favourite location, yet we;ve never found the right place to stay - and sampled many of the leading hotels and accommodations.

We won't be looking further. This is without a doubt, the classiest, yet most welcoming and unpretentious, B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in.

Hosts Angie and Tim, are just great. The accommodation (Lake Superior Suite) was superb, with fabulous amenities and very private. You can choose to mingle with other guests in the morning, or have breakfast for two in your room. We mingled.

Food was top class. Angie tries to accommodate guest preferences (anything with white chocolate and butterscotch pleased my husband a great deal!) and the quality and quantity kept us going from morning until evening meal.

It's a shame we have the Atlantic ocean and the eastern seaboard between us - however, not a deterrant, and we will definitely be back. Can't recommend highly enough.

My wife and I came to Duluth from Miami, FL for Grandma's marathon weekend and couldn't have been happier with our B&B stay at the AG Thompson House. We are making an attempt to complete one marathon in every state. Before each race, we stay a few days in the race city - using the marathon as an excuse to explore the USA.

Tim and Angie - the A G Thompson house innkeepers - represent everything that is great about Duluth. They make you feel like a member of the family - and their hospitality and thougtfulness is matched only by their skills in the kitchen.

The first time we stayed at the A.G. Thomson House, Tim and Angie absolutely blew us away with their hospitality and their menu! We have been back twice more and will be back again. The house and rooms are very comfortable and cozy and the gardens and grounds are beautiful. The entire place is relaxing. Tim and Angie really do go above and beyond with their guests and take a very personal interest in their comfort. May we mention the food again? Unbelievably good.

Room Tip: The Hewitt suite has a nice balcony to have coffee or breakfast on.

My husband and I have stayed at MANY B&B's throughout the country but this is one of the best! We decided to do the Lake Superior Circle Tour for my 40th birthday and my husband's 41st (both in September) and this was our last stop before heading home. Tim and Angie made it special with flowers and cake upon our arrival. We even had an in-room massage the following morning. Our room was amazing. In fact, the entire property is beautiful and oh, those FLOWERS! They have thought of everything down to the smallest detail! If you hesitate at all about this place...DON'T. It is simply PERFECT!

We recently were married and wanted to take a 'min-moon' and we came acorss this Bed and Breakfast. The pictures on the website are great but they don't give the true story of the house. This place is great. Tim and Angie were wonderful and the food was out of this world.

We stayed in the Lake Superior room and it was everything we could ask for and more. There is nothing finer than sitting on the deck, eating a gourmet breakfast while watching the leaves change colors. I would recommend to my friends and family.

My husband and I had never been to a bed and breakfast. We were a little unsure how this whole experince at first.....but we can both say.....we were completely blow away. The home like setting, friendly owners and attention to every little detail was nothing we have every experienced before. Angie and Tim are so welcoming that it feels like you are leaving family when you end your trip and they will meet all of your needs and expectations. The breakfast is homemade, top notch and absolutley delish! When our two nights ended, it was tough to leave. As I am sitting here typing this review, I am wishing we were back in our room enjoying our time all over again! I would high recommend this place and we cannot wait to return in the future!

We stayed at the A.G. Thomson House in Duluth as a "babymoon" (i.e. a vacation before our baby arrives in November). Not only is this a beautiful property, but Angie & Tim are the ultimate B&B owners. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, to ensure your experience is a pleasant one, and to provide that "extra touch." You can tell they really enjoy meeting people - and yet are very respectful of privacy. It was the perfect weekend for us - and we will certainly stay here again during a future visit to Duluth!
