We walked in without a reservation on a busy Friday night, & got a nice table with a beautiful Lake Superior view. Enjoyed the food immensely too, one entree of fish, the other of pork. Grilled romaine Caesar salad was delicious, as was the apple strudel.

While the steak fries were fresh and well seasoned and there was a nice view of the lake, those were the only bright spots in our visit. We ordered two pasta dishes. The pesto cream sauce tasted like alfredo sauce out of a jar with specks of basil mixed in. The seafood pasta came with a spicy red sauce that was half chunky, half watery and tasted like canned tomatoes, definitely not fresh. Our service was slow in spite of the fact that there were few other diners on a Saturday night. Perhaps the atmosphere and food quality improve during summer months when they are able to take advantage of the patio and a larger number of visitors, but we won't be back to find out.

Wow, great new menu! I'm not sure what happened but Midi has really stepped it up lately. I've also tried the Friday Fish special and Sunday Gourmet burger night (Mediterranean burger and house cut fries-YUM) and both were stellar.

My partner and I wanted to eat a simple, local meal, and try some of the local brews. We had a delicious sampling of whitefish and the gourmet chicken breast sandwiches. They were filled with surprising flavors. Afterwards we ordered creme brûlée and apple strudel. Yum! The waitress was very attentive, efficient and interesting. I loved the winter view of Lake Superior too. Such a relaxing dining experience.

Midi , located in the historic Fitger's building, probably takes the cake for Best View/lake access and Best Happy Hour on the waterfront. The current bargain is $10 bottles of wine - from a pretty darn good list- on Wednesdays...wow. Seriously, these would be more at the discount liquor store. their selection of Small Plates are half price for happy hour, an equally amazing bargain. My favorites: coconut shrimp, risotto cakes, and the amazing cheese plate...
Ok, to be fair, the non-happy hour choices are good as well. This place specializes in German and Mediterranean fare.. You cannot go wrong with these menu choices. My kingdom for the Weinerschnitzel! There are a lot of menu items; to be fair, most of our experiences have been with happy hour and German fare.
