This was our 2nd stay at the Canal Park Lodge in Duluth, MN. We weren't quite as impressed this time. Of course it was expensive, which is the usual for all Canal Park hotels. There was a weird comforter on the bed that was very heavy and kept slipping off all night. In the morning, we found the liner on the bed and the "insides" on the floor. It looked like someone had sprayed their hair using the mirror over the coffee pot, since it was dotted with little spots all over it. The most disappointing was the breakfast. Not what we expected from Canal Park's newest hotel. There was plenty of food and choice, so guess we just picked wrong. The bacon was cold, limp, and tasteless. The eggs were also cold and tasteless. There was diced ham that looked like it came out of a can. We microwaved our plate so the food would be edible. My suggestion is that they offer less and do it better. As always, Canal Park was beautiful and the hotel offers a gorgeous view of the lake.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, lakeview is fantastic. It's not worth the extra price to have a deck.

Very nice hotel to stay at. Clean hotel and friendly staff. Great breakfast, very busy though, better to take your food outside on the patio or back to your room. Great location, close to shops, restaurants, boardwalk, water. Relaxing area to sit out back in the evening. Duluth is a wonderful place to visit.

Great location in Canal Park. Overlooks Lake Superior and is on the Lakewalk. Check-in staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and had most amenities (hair dryer, fridge, etc.).

Breakfast is what you may find in a Hampton or similar type restaurant. Decent. Free Sunday Star Tribunes (but not a Duluth paper, which was odd).

The large patio on the lake is a great happy hour meeting place (they have a bar set up).

I'm told they are opening a bar or tap room near the hotel.

Be sure to get a room overlooking the lake. We spent a fair amount of time on the balcony.

We've stayed at every hotel in Canal Park. This was our first stay at Canal Park Lodge. It was very nice. Unfortunately, all but one hotel in Canal Park require a minimum 2 night stay in the busy season & Canal Park is one of them. We intended to stay 2 nights but found out the day of check in we could only stay one night. The hotel still let us stay at a higher rate. The morning breakfast was adequate, nothing out of the ordinary. Being right on the lake shore and the lake walk is the selling point and attraction along with being walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Canal Park. It's beautiful here in the summer. That's how all the hotels can jack their rates waaaay up. One knock on our room was the lighting in the bathroom is very dim, dark. For ladies putting on makeup, that's not ideal. Would we stay again? Maybe. It's hard for us to stay 2 nights and at the going rate in the peak season. We'll check all the hotels in the area. Just being in Duluth is a plus for us.

Excellent spot for a family get together with plenty of shops and resturants nearby. Prices go up if you stay for a Saturday night only during the busy season regardless of the number of rooms and total nights we booked. Breakfast is very good witha large variety but the seating area is very crowded. We had a lake side with balcony which was nice to be able to see boats come in. Rooms were quiet which was surprising as the hotel was fully booked and had 2 wedding parties. Rooms were nice but it is the location that sets this property apart. We will probably come again and recomend it to others.

Room Tip: Get a balony room on the lake side if there in summer. Not all lake side rooms have balconies.

It was my brother's 66th birthday, so I gave him two nights here with his wife and grand daughter. They truly enjoyed the cleanliness, comfort, free appetizers in early evening and good breakfasts and coffee. They enjoyed the view of lake from the balcony. My brother, the proud possessor of a Cuban from another sibling, was disappointed that he could not enjoy it from balcony. He had to sign a non-smoking agreement with fine of $150 if not complied with. Now, that's my kind of place!

Room Tip: Good walking path and very convenient to beach/lake.

This was the first stop on our motorcycle trip honeymoon. Very nice that they have covered parking near the front of the hotel dedicated for motorcycles only. This is the only hotel in Canal Park that offers this! The hotel was very clean and new. Comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly. Excellent view of the lake from our room and many of the community seating areas.
The continental breakfast has a lot to offer. We were very pleased and will certainly stay again in the future!
